Hey! A New Cradle Of Filth Song!

Rejoice, children! Goth-metallers (yes, it makes me cringe too) Cradle of Filth have emerged from their cave, and have posted a new song online. Prepare to click; "Dirge Inferno" can be heard here.

"Dirge Inferno" is the public's first glimpse of the forthcoming album, Thornography, due out on October 16. Guitar player Paul Allendar recently spoke to Terrorizer and revealed that the album is (surprisingly) guitar driven and melodic, focusing on song structure over blistering solos. Guitar driven and melodic. Funny, I was expecting field-recordings backed by a drum circle.

The riffs we write, they're not riffs that are meant to be soloed on top of. They're melodic within themselves. But I'm a great believer than less is definitely more. I love listening to all the shreddy, widdly stuff, but I have no interest in playing it. This new album is quite guitar-orientated. The last album was, but this is definitely more melodic. Dare I say it, there are quite a lot of typical MAIDEN-esque harmonies in there."

Maiden is always a good starting point. Expect a tour some time in late '06 and a host of new T-Shirts that your little sibling can wear to offend your parents and their friends.

I hate that Cradle have been getting bitched out for becoming a bit more mainstream. So what if their new fans are Hot Topic fuckers? They still make kickass music. I think I'ma give a "Yo ho" to Cradle for still being good.

i love the fact that i could have totally come up with that track list on my own without any prior knowledge of what they wanted to call the songs.

Cradle is silly, and i won't buy any of their new stuff, but Dusk and Her Embrace and Cruelty and the Beast will forever remain in my cd collection (mostly for equally silly nostalgic reasons).

This is the first music article posted on this site that I've actually taken the time to read in its entirety.

I have to say I'm getting tired of reading about all the bullshit indie/art-rock bands up and coming. Where's the metal and hardcore reviews and notices? Any notice for the new Unearth album? None. What about the new Lamb of God album? Nada.
