Dillinger Escape Plan Does Justin Timberlake

If you dig the kind of metal albums that are written in 13/8 and are an endurance test to get through, then you are likely a fan of Dillinger Escape Plan. You've also probably caught them live, as the band's been on the road supporting 2004's Miss Machine since its release.

While they gear up for their high profile support slot on the upcoming AFI tour, the band is making a new EP availabile to fans through the I-Tunes Music Store. The EP, notably titled Plagiarism, includes some curiously chosen covers. Actually, the material is out of left field.

Get ready for covers of Massive Attack ("Angel"), Nine Inch Nails ("Wish"), Soundgarden ("Jesus Christ Pose") and Justin Timberlake (?) ("Like I Love You"). Looking for new songs? Forget it. However, there are new versions of Dillinger's own "The Perfect Design" and "Unretrofied" included in the set. If you're impatient and want to hear Dillinger's homage to the grunge years, check out the Soundgarden cover now, as it was posted to their Myspace page. You can digitally purchase Plagiarism starting June 13.

Also, prepare for a Miss Machine DVD in the works, which will include all music videos from that album as well as live footage. Unfortunately, it will be some time before a new Dillinger album sees the light of day. Guitarist Ben Weinman will be sidelined for arm surgery after their upcoming tour dates. At the same time, the band took 5 years between their last two albums, so this is nothing new for them. Hopefully, we will see a new full length before 2009.

Yeah, the Timberlake cover has been doing the rounds on bootleg for a while, but it should be interesting to hear a decent quality version for a change. The Soundgarden cover sounds pretty interesting too.

Can't wait!

During Botch's last tour, DEP played a cover of Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell"...that was amazing...

There's a recorded version of that from when they did a Peel session, as well. And yes, it is amazing.

Bonus points for seeing Botch, you lucky bastard.

Dillenger Escape Plan are a bunch of assholes...fuck them.

You know, it's easier to understand a person's reasoning for believing something if they state why.

His reasons are quite obvious if you look at his music list - he's an Avenged Sevenfold fan wink.

Gotta love this cute little feud these two bands are having. My money's on DIllinger, because Greg is huge.

Oh yeah, that. Forgot about that little bit going on.

Either way, "Setting Fire To Sleeping Giants" was a much better written traditionally-structured song than anything I've heard from Avenged Sevenfold. tongue

Plus, who hasn't heard the stories of what has happened to hecklers during concerts...

Heckler: "Stop playing that Mike Patton shit!"
*Greg disappears*
*Greg reappears, large, heavy fan in one hand*
*Greg tosses large heavy fan at heckler*
*Heckler goes down in a heap*
*DEP continues playing*

Dillinger seems to feud with everybody, which is awesome. Hell, the fact that they hate everybody is one of the reasons I started listening to them. Assholes are funny.

As if miss machine wasn't bad enough.

To think that band actually had so much
and threw it all away for tours with afi
and videos on mtv.

Funny its with afi though because they
used to be one of my favorite new school
punk bands years ago and now they look
more like my chemical romance.

Don't you mean that My chemical Romance look like AFI? They've been looking like they do for a fuckload longer than MCR have.
