So They're Not Coming Then?

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 25 2006 7:00 PM

The Sex Pistols RSVP to being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:

Next to the SEX-PISTOLS rock and roll and that hall of fame is a piss stain. Your museum. Urine in wine. Were not coming. Were not your monkey and so what? Fame at $25,000 if we paid for a table, or $15,000 to squeak up in the gallery, goes to a non-profit organisation selling us a load of old famous. Congradulations. If you voted for us, hope you noted your reasons. Your anonymous as judges, but your still music industry people. Were not coming. Your not paying attention. Outside the shit-stem is a real SEX PISTOL

The Hall of Fame people are taking it in stride:

Susan Evans, executive director of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said of the band's announcement, "They're being the outrageous punksters that they are, and that's rock 'n' roll."

Punksters. Yay.

I question even the nomination. They're a band that existed for only two years and are known more for their actions than for their music. Ask most people and they'll know who the Sex Pistols were, ask them to sing a song though and most will be left clueless.

They're but a pale immitation of the Ramones and the New York Dolls, the former of which is already in the Hall of Fame, the latter as of yet isn't, and were far more influential to music.

I'm so glad they were lucky enough to be the "token snots" of the rock and roll world. Too bad it doesn't pay of for the other 200,000 bands who couldn't parlay outsider status into big bucks. robot

All this time, and they still don't know the difference between "your" and "you're". Not to be a grammar Nazi, but...oh, never mind.

I'm glad they won't be there. Accepting punk is not punk. Even if they showed up and acted badly, it would still be giving in.

Edited to add, "Yeah, what Timer said".

The Sex Pistols need an editor to review their official statements. The grammar and spelling police would be all over them if they put something like that on the boards.

Johnny Lydon, 50 years old, still a total asshole, that's staying power. He deserves his own Hall of Fame just for that alone.

I personally believe that The Sexpistols influenced more great bands than the Ramones. ( I'll give you The New York Dolls cause I like them.)

Not accepting the award is completely understandable given the bands perminent "fuck you' attitude.
