Bowie, Arcade Fire Collaboration Released Online

We reported back in August that David Bowie was to perform with The Arcade Fire at Fashion Rocks in New York. At the event, the two artists played the latter group's "Wake Up", and are now offering it for download for a limited time:

The Montreal band will make the track available for one week only on iTunes from November 14.

The live download features singer Win Butler and Bowie trading verses during their recent performance at the Fashion Rocks event in New York during September.

Of the performance Win told NME.COM: "It was very special to have the opportunity because our record only came out less than a year or so ago at the time and we were remembering playing to about 20 people in a club. Then there we were playing with David Bowie. It just goes to show what an unbelievable year we've had."

All proceeds from the sale will go toward Hurricane Katrina relief.

Cool.

(But would probably be cooler if every David Bowie/Arcade Fire fan on the internet didn't already have both audio and video footage of the songs downloaded...)

'Wake Up' sounded great with Bowie and 'Five Years' sounded great with Arcade Fire.

Bowie's rendition of 'Life On Mars' (the other song he performed that night, complete with his deceitful I've-was-beaten-for-my-Rolex-backstage look).. not bad, but so great either. I've heard him sing it better. *Bowie snob*
