Morrissey's 1989 "Singles to Be Cremated With" Comp

The good folks at Morrisey-solo.com have dredged up a list the Moz compiled for a 1989 issue of NME entitled "Singles to Be Cremated With", in an article called "Headful of Heroes".

Singles To Be Cremated With:
1. The World's Loneliest Man - Vince Eager
2. Don't Take The Lovers From The World - Shirley Bassey
3. What A Nice Way To Turn 17 - The Crystals
4. There, I've Said It Again - Sam Cooke
5. Loneliness Remembers What Happiness Forgets - Dionne Warwick
6. Strange, I Know - The Marvelettes
7. Third Finger, Left Hand - Martha Reeves And The Vandellas
8. I Take It Back - Sandy Posey
9. Heart - Rita Pavone
10. Shoes - Reparata
11. Terry - Twinkle
12. Attack - The Toys
13. I've Been A Bad, Bad Boy - Paul Jones
14. Insult To Injury - Timi Yuro

There's a download link after the jump. The London News Review wonders why this list is so much better than a recent "influences" comp Mozzer put together.

If he's reading this, a completely unrelated and uncalled for comment?

This is going to sound stupid, but...I need a clue here. I've listened to Morrissey since the first Smith's record (though my listening has tapered in later years). Why is he called Moz?

Nice list, though. However it's missing a bonus track-- Carly Simon's "Your so Vain."

Isn't Moz just a sort of colloquial shortening of Morrissey?

In other news, awesome list! Go Moz! love

Yeah. Maybe it's a British thing? A lot of names are shortened like this.

Barry - Baz / Bazza
Gary - Gaz / Gazza
Darren - Daz / Dazza
...
Morrissey - Moz!

That's crazy talk--that Under the Influence comp was freakin' sweet! (Although this 1989 list looks really good too.)
