The Fugees' New Single, New Album

Almost a year ago today, we reported that The Fugees were reforming and planned to make a new album. This weekend, the first single from that album -- which the band has been working on for two months -- was leaked to the internet, apparently by The Fugees themselves:

Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean and Prakazrel Michel have been in the studio for two months, according to their label, and have just leaked a new song called "Be Easy."

The reunion album is still untitled, but a tentative release date of December 27 has been scheduled. There's no word yet on who the group has been working with.

On "Be Easy," the three exchange verses, with Hill employing a speedy, spoken-word-type of flow, while Clef and Pras use a more traditional delivery. "I got moxie, I'm so damn cocky/ Industry tried to block me like cops and paparazzi," Hill raps. Later she says, "We 'bout to reconcile.

You can hear it here, now called "Take It Easy", according to the band's Sony page.

My only response: that's a "single"?

It's okay....

After Lauryn's album and some of the cool Wyclef cuts, this is really mediocre...

I just love hearing them, even if it isn't the greatest thing in the world... I'm looking forward to the album...

Meh. Apparently they lost their chemistry sometime during the last decade.

I'm just happy to hear them together again. It may not be the best, but it's better than a lot of what's out these days..
