Take-Two Interactive (Grand Theft Auto) and mobile entertainment publisher Airborne Entertainment have attained exclusive publishing rights for the Family Guy franchise:

Under the arrangement, Grand Theft Auto publisher Take-Two can produce Family Guy games for multiple platforms. Take-Two is currently developing a third-person action game based on the show and will publish it under its newly formed 2K Games brand. The game is expected to get into gamers' hands in 2006. No specific platforms have been announced.

The deal also allows Airborne Entertainment to produce Family Guy mobile content. Airborne is planning to release wallpapers, wireless games, and animated ringers in time for the show's second coming on the Fox network, May 1.

Third-person action game? Gentlemen, start your bitching.

I don't know what the problem with third person action games would be....other than the fact that family guy is not really an action oriented show for the most part. Not action in terms of something that would make a good video game anyway. I don't really see how to make a Family Guy game, but I am sure they will think of something. If there has to be a Family Guy game third person action is as good a format as any.....

Besides Manhunt Rockstar does not make bad games. I think this is great news (assuming as Jeff Fries did that Take 2 give it to Rockstar) . They've really pushed forward the search for the old holy grail of gaming which is to make the experince like a movie that you are part of. Origin and Westwood tried that and succeded some with full motion video because animation was not advanced enough to do it at that time. But with the GTA3 and Max Payne franchises achieve both an excellent game experince and an excellent story with lots of pop culture reflexivity. Being that Family Guy is culture reflection and critque I think the match is perfect.

It wouldn't be hard to spin a story that would last the 10-20 hours of gameplay standard on most releases . Of course gamers such as myself perfer open ended games with high replayability but exploreing Qauhog might be a bit much. Unless you have different game types for each charecter and must unlock each. Stewie takes over the world, Peter does something stupid, etc

Sounds good to me. But of course haters abound.

edit: stupid me, they'll give it to 2k games. my mistake.
