Scientific Proof that Women Can't Drive?

Scientific studies indicate that lack of the male hormone testosterone is the cause of females' lower skills in driving and parking cars.

Apparently testosterone helps with spatial tests that allow men to perform better with three dimensional thinking than women.

It turns out most women have index fingers that are the same length as their ring fingers, unlike men, who have a distinguishable length difference between the fingers. Women who have ring fingers that are actually longer than their index fingers (in other words, those females with more 'masculine fingers'wink are much better than their female peers at these spatial tests.

Map reading and parking may prove difficult for some women because they were exposed to too little testosterone in the womb, researchers suggest.

All I know is that I used to ride to work with a girl who could parallel park at 60 miles an hour while I was holding on to everything I could in blind terror.

Is the best driver you know male or female? The worst?

i think that is kind of funny! i do KNOW there are physical and mental diferences between ladies and germs....and this could be true on a "statistic" level. but, you are only as good as you want to be.

IT'S THE OLD PEOPLE THAT CAN'T DRIVE!!!!

In my experience young women have less accidents than young men as they try to show off to their friends less and also (possibly consequently) take foolish risks a lot less.

I'm not sure how this pans out as age increases and I'm also not entirely sure how to scientifically quantify 'best' in relation to driving.

the best driver i know is a female. the worst, is also a female. i totally think it has to do with personality. are you a cell phone talker? do your make up? shave? listen to tunes to loud.

but, it's the old people that can't drive.

why couldn't helen keller drive?

BECAUSE SHE WAS A WOMAN!

i kid, i kid. i've known some pretty awful drivers of both sexes. but yeah, it seems the bad male drivers are because they're trying to drive manly, while girls seem to have more skill-related problems. but i think it also has to do with the fact that car culture is very male-dominated.

I see such a wide range of shittiness (in the driving sense) from every age, race, gender, and economic status every time I leave my apartment. Just like cancer, bad driving doesn't discriminate. And yes, I suck at driving as well.

most of my female friends have issues parking. serious issues. it's also funny to watch people parallel park looking out from the bay windows at redbike, especially the dual-x chromosome posessing type.

i think the important thing is to be able to recognize differences between attitude v.s. ability when it comes to driving.

Yeah.

I tend to distrust studies like this, because a lot of them use weird science and the people doing the research are usually biased in some way. And I've seen bad drivers of all ages, races, sexes, etc. I really think it has more to do with individual skill than how long your fingers are.
