Sony Pushes PSP Release to 2005

Sony has delayed the release of its upcoming PSP handheld, for the U.S. and European markets, until 2005.

Sony's first and highly anticipated foray into the world of handhelds was originally set to debut this November, but is now being pushed back, because more time is said to be needed to prepare game software.

Though portable systems don't usually do much for me-- I will admit that seeing the concept design for the PSP last May has made me excited to see the final product in person.

Anyone else becoming restless about getting their hot little hands on one?

i think it's pretty ugly, but after the hours of fun my GBASP has brought (read: not many) i can live without this anyway. they're great in theory, but i guess i don't take enough long journeys pn public transportation to make them worthwhile, all it has done is extend my average bathroom break by about 15 minutes.

They're probably having trouble implementing all the features they've claimed will be included. Looking forward to it, though.

Can everybody say vaporware?

Who is gonna buy the same movies, music and ps2 games over again because of the new media so they can play it on $500 psp not many I would think.

Copyrighted/ Label minidisc music went over real well im sure movies will do better surreal

Maybe by 2005 $500 won't be so much money confused

This thing isn't going to cost $500, and considering MANY people buy the same Nintendo games over again to play on their Gameboys... I would say plenty of people will do the same for this. People buy the same movies on DVD that they already had on VHS, no?

You can never be too passionate about video games.

I agree that the protoype photos looked really nice.

im forever gonna be a Nintendo man. they make the best first party games and if Sony muscles Nintendo out of the handheld market i'd be very sad. THe last thing i want to see is nintendo become just another software company like Sega.

irony is Sega got pushed out cause they were too much ahead of their time, and nintendo might be pushed out for being too far behind.

I read $550 for psp.
If not $550 how much will it be?

$550 compared to $99, um?

It will take years for the psp to gather a library as large as gamboy, longer they went longer it will take.

maybe they will market it to an older audience it worked so well for nokia.
