um, there were several a ghostbusters games released at the time of the film.

This is great and all, But I still want a third movie

It's strange that they talk about it taking place after the second movie but all the gameplay footage looked like scenes from the first. Still, if it comes out for the wii, it's mine. Can you imagine the cool if they had a special proton pack accessory?

Reprising a bit part in a crappy, straight-to-video sequel to an animated movie. In other words, right where he belongs.

No way, the C64 version was awesome. God, I played that so much. Probably worth tracking down an emulator and a ROM if you have any interest in vintage gaming.

I don't tend to really like these games that are trying to be sequels to movies. By their very nature, games don't mesh well with movies if you're trying to tell a strong narative (because most movies aren't multiple endless levels of shooting random guys). I mean, there are exceptions... and there are good games with great stories, but they're not usually continuing a film franchise. The stories are normally half decent, but filled with rehashes trying to create scenes from the earlier movies.

Based on past returns, I'd say it'd be better to just make an adaptation of of the movies and leave the all new story line that's supposedly "essentially the third Ghostbusters film" for an actual film.

I remember spending countless hours with the crap that was the Ghostbusters game on the NES. It looked like crap, played like crap, and was a crap game. Did it matter? Not at all because it was the only Ghostbusters game out for the NES at the time. The Genesis version was alright but still nothing to write home about. I have waited nearly 20 years for a good Ghostbusters game and it looks like is there finally one coming out. I just wish that they would specify whether or not this will be a sequel to the movie or if it will be a game. I would rather have this be a game based on the movie and they do a new movie. Billy Murray already said that he won't do a live action Ghostbusters though, I would settle with CGI. It would be nice if the game was a deeper story than the movie but they still came out with the movie. I guess we won't know until they clear some things up later down the line as it sometimes sounds like this game is going to be the third movie and other times it sounds like this game will go hand-in-hand with the third movie.
