World of Warcraft's Real Epic Mount

A few days ago a story started making the rounds about a lady who placed a craigslist ad offering to trade sex for a flying epic mount or at least the 5000 gold required to buy one. While buying gold is clearly a violation of the TOS, this situation isn't specifically called out in the rules. Her toon is Horde on Uther which puts 5000 Gold at a street value of about $639.45. As you can imagine this story made it to just about every WoW related forum on the web with people taking special note of the photo the poster included, especially her bangs. We all pointed, laughed, and assumed that was the end of it.

We were wrong.Very, very wrong.

Apparently some strapping young nerd took her up on the offer, threw down the loot, and got a mount of his very own. We know this because she posted a new listing on craigslist bragging about it and showing pics of her newly purchased flying epic mount. Of course it was filled with a lot of rubbing-it-in-your-face-shit and ended with these words for all her critics:

So talk all the trash you want, I got MY flying epic mount AND I got laid which is more than most of you failures can ever hope for.

I wonder what I could get for some pre-BC BOE purples I've got collecting dust in the bank?

THAT's an unlikely scenario. I love sex way too much to ever use it as a bargaining chip.

And our arguing over who would pick up the tab was mostly, "I've got it," and then, "Nonsense! I'll take care of it," followed by, "I'm a man, dammit! I'll buy," which prompted a response of, "I'm not falling into heteronormative gender roles with you. I'm paying, and that's the end of it," to which I would reply, "Yes, efendi".

Yes, unlikely and why the legal definition is not commonly applied to dating or married couples. It does not apply.

My clarification was really to address your assertion that...

... Most women I know are whores.

Based on the legal definition as originally put forth in my earlier post.

Honestly, I was being facetious.

But, still, all the times I've gotten laid outside of a dating relationship, someone has bought the other party drinks or something.

I generally only buy drinks for the woman whose underwear I'm trying to get into if I feel that it's not going as well as I would like or if someone else is trying to steal my thunder. Otherwise, I end up getting the free drinks.

I'm always weary with online games, I mean I play WoW and RF Online these days and level up and mess around a bit when I'm bored but to some kids this shit is strictly life.
I remember a while ago when I played WoW some kid kept trying to beat me in PvP, he was so stubborn and always lost. A few days later some guy on the same server as me recognized my username, he went to college with the kid and said he did nothing but bitch about how I kept managing to kill him, even going so far to miss classes to try and level all in the effort to beat me. I mean I felt kind of sorry for him a little, that this game meant so much to him that he'd fuck up his real life just for some satisfaction in the game.

Also this story reminds me of the girl in everquest who had sex with about 3 guys just to get all the gear she wanted, back when that was popular.

Jesus Christ...

And I thought I was a gamer... shocked

I got a natural knack for videogames, I've always been good at them, right from the get-go. I've won tournaments, kicked some nerd-ass, took home the nerd-prizes... Yet I have such a big social life. I don't even touch videogames anymore to be honest, but when I do, a lot of people assume I do nothing but play. No. I'm just good at recognizing patterns and my hand-eye coordination is alright. That's all.

And when it comes to online games... There are people who actually get shanked on the streets for these things.

(There was a gang of Korean kids and a gang of Chinese kids out here who actually had a real life knife/gun fight over some CounterStrike: Source grudge. Lots of people got seriously hurt. (Safe to say, no headshots. Hehe.))

I just don't understand how people can take videogames so fucking seriously... MMORPG or otherwise. It's fucking gross.

It's a fucking game no matter how obsessed you are with it. It's not real life. And somewhere along the line, people seem to fuckin' forget that. How is it fun if you take it seriously?! I just don't get it... What's the point if you're gonna actually punch someone in the face for fragging you in a game? How is that fun?!! (Funny, sometimes, but that's what little brothers are for. smile )

I wonder if the whole videogame industry has sprouted a new type of mental illness. confused

As a guy with computer game related tattoos I even think kids take games far too far these days. Was shocked when I heard about the korean kid who died after spending 3 days at a computer because he was on a winning streak, winning streak ended when he collapsed and died.

I can't even imagine how some kid/adult could ignore real life needs just to get a new level on the screen, personally I think these people are socially challenged. They're so engrossed about what some faceless person behind the screen thinks that they'll do anything to enhance that image.

Instant rewards. Some people get addicted to the "Do this: Get this" mentality of games because it's so appealing compared to the "Do this: Wait five years: Get a better job: Afford a nicer house" aspect of real life. With MMORPGs it's a bigger effect because you can instantly show off to your buddies your successes.

I have nothing against legalizing prostitution so I have nothing against this.

I'd never do it myself, I never really needed to, and would find it insulting anyway. But if that's what you want to do, or what you feel you need to do to get a woman (or man) go right ahead.

The fact that it was done for online compensation definitely makes it funnier, but doesn't really change the morals.

Congrats to him for finally getting laid and congrats to her for getting something which will keep her in her dreamworld for a little while longer.

I just hope the union doesn't procreate...

I think prostitution is evidence of the lack of bond between men and women. Not sure how to feel about it. Depends on the totality of the situation, which I feel is aggregate at times..... It's barbaric, but so are we. So... I don't know what to think about it. I tend to agree with Daradon that I would never do it and certainly would much rather be happily involved with someone.
