Bully, the controversial new PS2 title from Rockstar games, makers of the Grand Theft Auto series, has earned a rocky road leading up to its release. Everyone from CNN's Lou Dobbs, to game hating laywer Jack Thompson, to the British House of Commons have all weighed in on Bully's potentially civilization-eroding threat.
The actual game play involves schoolyard fights, wedgies, and dunking weaker students' heads in the toilet. Now surprisingly, it also features hott boy-on-boy kissing.
For no apparent reason, Bully's main character Jimmy Hopkins can be led into steamy homosexual kissing scenes when he approaches certain characters. Maybe the designers were taking out a little "controversy insurance" just in case the game's violence didn't make enough of a stir.
Or maybe Jimmy just had a special awakening at Bullworth Academy.
This is awesome. I need to play this game. Too bad I don't really own a decent game system. (gamecube, what was I thinking?)
I don't know why, but Rockstar is hitting all the right buttons. And, this "feature"(if you want to call it that) is all about pissing off conservatives. Thank you Rockstar!
Remember Manhunt? I can't believe Jack Thompson gave Bully so much shit, when Manhunt got off so easily here. Not that I didn't play and enjoy Manhunt, but that was about 1000x as graphic with the violence...

I reckon you might be right. It shouldn't be such an important, awesome thing to do to include gay characters (or at least dudes makin' out) in a video game, but it really is. And it hadn't occurred to me it could be a consciously political move by Rockstar. I hope it is. Rockstar seems to be a really good company, both product-wise, and ideologically.

That's kind of cool of Rock Star. Good on 'em for representing the gay kids. (When was the last time you saw a gay character in a video game? I can't remember it).

Children shouldn't be playing any of these games anyway.
Tell that to the deluded parents who buy the games well above their childrens age range, cause "Its just a game, Its make believe. My child knows the difference between real life and make belive" while the child is dive bombing the cat from the top of the bookshelf in a peter pan costume.
Though that WOULD be funny.
As a parent, I'd like to take this one.
I can't understand how parents allow things like this to occur. Our 4 year old plays games with us that encourage her imagination, we read books together, play with Lego's, read Spanish cards, etc. She watches TV for maybe an hour or 2 a week, if she's lucky. I think the problem is that parents have become so fucking immersed in the rat race, that the television becomes an early outlet for them. As that trend of plopping them in front of the TV for 5 hours a day continues, the children become addicted to it and when removed, cause a ruckus that makes the parent want to put them back in front of the TV.
In conclusion, if you lose your children at an early age, there's going to be a LOT of work to get them back.
Well, I hand it to you for being the good kind of parent you are

Was I the only one who thought the noises they made kissing were some of the funniest things I ever heard?
