Play Guitar Hero 2 Right Now!

WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 18 2006 11:00 AM

TAGS: games, guitar hero 2 ps2

Those of you who can't wait until next month to play Guitar Hero 2 can get a taste of the game's new songs and co-op mode by picking up the current issue of the Official Playstation Magazine. The included PS2 game disc has a GH2 demo, featuring four songs:

  • Shout at the Devil
  • You Really Got Me
  • Strutter
  • YYZ

You will need two guitar controllers to access the co-op mode, but there is a single player version available, too. You can play lead guitar on all the songs, and in co-op mode, you can play bass on all the songs except Strutter, where you can play rhythm. Easy to Expert levels are available.

I played it last night with my kids (who are much better at it than I am, making me feel old and lame) and it's as insanely fun as I'd hoped.

Guitar Hero 2 comes out on November 7th for PS2.

I wish they had the original version of "You Really Got Me" frown

However, they have Cheap Trick, which totally makes up for it.

I'm already in need of Guitar Hero Anonymous. This will just exasperate the problem.

This is SICK. I love that game and can't wait to play it in full, man. Any news of tabulatures?

FYI, there is apparently a wicked PC mod that has the ability to run guitar hero-ish game using any song, and will work with your ps2 guitar hero guitar if you get a USB converter. I have yet to try, but it does interest me.

The Kink's version is by far the superior, however the Van Halen version seems more fit for Guitar Hero as it features more butt-rockish riffs. Now I'm not saying that Page's guitar solo isn't videogame worthy. Just that Eddie's rendition feels more appropriate for the game.

Jimmy Page was in Led Zeppelin, not the Kinks, I think you meant to say Davies.

The guitar solo on the recording is the source of one of the most controversial and persistent myths in all of rock and roll: that the song's guitar solo was not played by Dave Davies, but by Jimmy Page.

my mistake.

Although the wiki does go on to pretty much dispel the Page rumour, I still feel pretty foolish not being aware there was uncertainty surrounding the solo in the first place. You have my sincere apology and I now have a most humbling moment to put in my profile.
