PS3 Pre-orders Sell Out Nationwide; Wii Pre-orders this Friday

Want a shiny new Sony Playstation 3 or Nintendo Wii when they come out next month? Well, there's good news (if you want a Wii), and bad news (if you want a PS3).

Tuesday saw the first and seemingly only day of Sony Playstation 3 pre-ordering at U.S. Gamestop/EB Games stores. All pre-orders were sold within minutes. There is a possibility that this pre-order comprises the total of the first PS3 shipment, leaving many gamers out in the cold come November 17th.

Kotaku is among the handful of gaming and tech sites that have been tipped about the Gamestop/EB Games Nintendo Wii pre-order this coming Friday, October 13th. Reports that Nintendo is exceeding production expectations indicates that there might be more available Wii consoles at launch than the PS3.

Major retailer Best Buy is not taking pre-orders for either console.

Yeah sold out of which console version? I was under the impression Sony had price tiers much like the XBox. At this point all the early adopters will pay big money to have a console.

In N. America is seems bragging rights are more important than picking the best system and games. But then we're all rich in N. America. We buy them both. Hahah!

Im working for a Sony show right now and the news we have about the consoles is not good. We were supposed to get a few to give away but they are in bad shape, burning up from what I hear.

And there are some other problems that I don't remember. But I would not pre-order that piece of shit. Let it come out, wait a few months and see how it performs.

Funny, EB Games Australia has been taking pre-orders on both for about 10 months now, and Toys R Us in this country also give away a free game of your choice with the system if you pre-order it from them. A deal which EB Games has to match due to it being part of their shtick.

I threw down my 4 hundred bux for a Wii yesterday. Fuck I cant wait 'till November 7th.
