Guitar Hero Coming to XBox

If Dead Rising wasn't a good enough reason for you to buy a 360, perhaps the latest news from Activision will change your mind, Mr. Bond:

CEO and chairman of Activision Robert Kotick revealed . . . that Guitar Hero would appear "on every significant new format", while discussing intentions for yearly updates and building franchises across a number of key Activision titles.

The revelation comes in the same week that employees of retail chain Gamestation were reportedly informed that the game would appear on Xbox 360 in the first part of 2007.

1UP observes one of the only ways this could get even better: offering new songs for purchase via online transactions, like the Xbox Live Arcade. Guitar Hero 2 comes out for Playstation in November.

This made me so happy to read. Jamming out to Primus on the 360 will make my year!

If by disappointing you mean "hours of completely brainless fun while whacking zombies with soccerballs, sledge hammers and manequins", then you would be correct. I'm mean just how much fun could running around a mall in a woman's dress and a space helmet while smashing zombies in the face with LCD TVs be?

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

Yeah, I fucking love it! love

This would make me so happy in teh pantz. I've been really tempted to pick up a PS2 just to play Guitar Hero.

Now if someone brings DDR to the XBox 360...

the whole promise of "everything" being usable as a weapon not happening? lame.

not being able to throw large objects at zombies to ward off hoards of them, but instead having one swing of a large object completely sway your body, taking too long to recover? lame.

the incredibly small amount of life you're given? lame.

and the worst thing of all is the save point feature. you should be able to save the game as you're playing it, or at closer checkpoints instead of the incredible amount of time in between chances to save.

it was extremely disappointing. they should've given the game development to Koei (responsible for Dynasty Warriors, the best hack-and-slash series in ages) or Rockstar (of course of GTA fame), because Konami took a great idea and ruined it.

it was actually a capcom game, fitting because they definitely know how to make zombie games. i do have qualms with the save-checkpoint feature, but the rest of the game certainly redeems itself for me.

I keep leveling up and getting more life "blocks". I think I've got at least 6... have to go home and check.

I don't see the save point feature that different than the Resident Evil series. Granted, RE always seemed to have a typewriter right before you were about to get fucked up badly. Considering one of the main goals of the game is to bring back surviviors to the security area, which is where one of the save areas are, doesn't it kind of make sense?

I also really like the fact that heavier objects take longer to swing and recover from. How difficult would it be if you could swing the heavy/high damage objects at the same speed as the lead pipe or 2x4?

I agree about the "everything is a weapon" being bullshit. Making that true would have made the game funnier. Picture beating a zombie to death, ripping off his arm and using it to kill other zombies.

I tend to like games that don't challenge me when I'm trying to relax. Probably the reason that I play my old ColecoVision and NES as much as my XBox and GameCube.

This is getting totally off topic, but if you want to beat zombies to death with the arms of other zombies, Zombie Smashers X2 is your game.
