Star Fox Command and the Nintendo Schwag Barf Bag!

Nintendo continues to do no wrong and releases one of the most original pieces of schwag seen in quite some time. Their new Nintendo DS game is so balls to the walls intense that whilst playing it one will indeed blast their innards into the air and only this Nintendo brand barf bag can effectively catch the action.

While I put the finishing touches on our late (but oh so delicious) Star Fox Command review, I thought I'd share some of the goodies Nintendo was kind enough to send along with the game. I know I've said this before, but Nintendo PR is creative, and nowhere is this more evident than in their video game schwag. Be it chocolate or hamster food, we've seen all manner of goods arrive at our office stamped with the Nintendo seal of approval. however, Star Fox Command's arrival marked the first time we have ever been sent a barf bag. Yes, in celebration of the game's release, Nintendo sent over an appropriately labeled Star Fox air sickness bag, and accompanying Star Fox Command bags of dry roasted nuts. I suppose if playing on the Nintendo DS ever gets too nauseating, I now have the tools for the job.

Fan boys and savvy individuals most assuredly remember Nintendo’s last fantastic promotional stunt. Nintendo, is this really necessary? The entire planet seems to be buying up your DS Lite, its games are dominating sales charts, and anyone with hands is going to be picking up your Wii. Nintendo, I’m sorry to have to do this but unless you put me on this promotions list I’m going to have to report you for having a monopoly on everything rad!

My DS was my favorite purchase of the year. So far. With the Wii releasing in the near future, I'm sure this will have been a year for Nintendo. Huzzah at their continual savviness.

Hahaha. I love Nintendo!!

My girlfriend MollyMolly just gave me her old DS when she got a DS Lite, and I LOVE it. I have Brain Age and Nintendogs and play them every single day. love

Nintendo sucked me in when I was 6 with Super Mario Bros. and I've been hooked ever since. 20 solid years of gaming thanks to those guys. Awesome.

You know I'm a Nintendo fanboy because it was almost painful for me to trade in my Classic NES edition GBA SP so I could afford a DS. That said, I love my DS more than any of the Game Boy's I've had (and I've had every one except the Pocket and the Micro). Sadly, I won't be able to afford a Wii until sometime after launch.

You know, funny thing is, I might actually need that barf bag if I were to play that game. Some 3D games give me serious motion sickness. puke I couldn't even get to the first boss in Metroid Prime because of that. What a wuss!

I've been playing the game for a few days now, and the game itself is great. But what has me playing over and over again are the various references to Slippy possibly being gay. Example:

Slippy: "Hey, I left my girlfriend behind to do this!"

Peppy: "Slippy! This is no time to joke around!"

Fox: "No, seriously, he has a girlfriend."

Peppy: "--"

Indeed. Leave it to things like a barf bag that cost pennies to make to make Nintendo cooler than a $600 PS3.
