Freebird in Guitar Hero 2

In what may be the greatest Guitar Hero news yet, a video of Lynyrd Skynyrd's Freebird has appeared on YouTube. Playable. Freebird. Dude. Out of all the tracks that have been announced thus far, this is the only one I am so drooling over.

Wouldn't it be awesome if there was an unlockable, 15 minute version of the song, where the lead guitar has no set notes so you just get really, really high and rock the hell out?



Tracks confirmed for the next installation of Guitar Hero thus far are:

• Arterial Black - Drist (original track as a bonus song)
• Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
• John The Fisherman - Primus (original track)
• Madhouse - Anthrax
• Psychobilly Freakout - The Reverend Horton Heat
• Shout at the Devil - Mötley Crüe
• Strutter - KISS
• Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns N' Roses
• Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart - Stone Temple Pilots
• War Pigs - Black Sabbath
• Who Was in My Room Last Night? - The Butthole Surfers
• You Really Got Me - The Kinks, as performed by Van Halen
• YYZ - Rush

And there is also talk of Rage's Killing in the Name being added to the list. In total, Guitar Hero 2 will feature 55 playable songs. It is due out November 7th, for the PS2 with rumors of a 360 appearance.

Truely, the idea that any one would think of Van Halen for anything, other than "Hot for Teacher" is pretty absurd.

YES the Van Halen version is TOTALLY the best version.

Not that the Kinks one suck or anything, cuz it's still a good song.

I keep thinking about buying Guitar Hero when I stop and remember- I can actually play most of these songs. Like, on a real guitar.

i saw You Really Got Me played up on stage at PAX... it said "You Really Got Me, as made famous by Van Halen". i threw up in my mouth a little.

but holy shit, seeing War Pigs actually played was glorious. it is everything i wanted it to be.

man, 11 years of guitar and i still can't nail some of the solos in GH. it's actually really, really good timing practice.
