Paradox Entertainment Announces Upcoming Conan Movie

Conan fans rejoice! Paradox Entertainment announced that a Conan the Barbarian movie from Warner Brothers is set for production early 2007. It is very possible that our fearless barbarian friend will grace the screen in several Conan movies. Warner Brothers had previously attempted to bring back Conan, with the Wachhowsi Brothers, and then Robert Rodriguez. Sadly, both attempts failed.

While a director has not yet been chosen, Boaz Yakin, Remember The Titans and The Rookie, has been hired as scriptwriter. Producers Akira Goldsman, DaVinci Code and Cinderella Man, along with Irving Azoff, Jon Jashni and Richard Alexander are all aboard as well.

Please, Conan movie creators--I beg of you: Just watch Korgoth a few times. Maybe embrace a few elements?

"We are of course very happy to see that Warner Brothers are moving ahead with one, and potentially several, new Conan movies. We believe that this will further strengthen the Conan brand worldwide. The global fan-base of Conan will likely increase significantly and the marketing efforts of a Hollywood movie will have a very positive effect on all licensees working with the Conan brand, Funcom's Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMO), ‘Age of Conan’, included." said Trond Arne Aas, CEO of Funcom.

Age of Conan received Gamespy and IGN's Best of E3 award this year. The Conan booth certainly drew me in. Perhaps it was my lifelong dream of becoming one with the sword wielding barbarian. Or perhaps it was the plastic inflatable sword they were giving away.

Oh man. I hope we don't have to see Arnie's saggy tits.
That man can play tree rolls. Mindless military grunt, stupid, robot, killing machine and guy who doesn't talk much. I love him in all thos roles, but not many more.

if that movie is the King Conan movie that was rumored to be in the early stages when Arnie got elected, oh man.... ooooohhhhh man. King fucking Conan!

i'm not sure if the Conan MMO will be able to keep me away from WoW for long, but it's pretty much a shoe-in that every nerd worth their salt is going to jump at the chance to rock a good old fashioned broadsword+loincloth adventure.

Listening to the commentary for the second Conan film is a bizarre experience. The people making it actually set out to dump all that made the first film a classic (no hooting at the back please). A Conan film needs to be serious, containing huge piles of both doom and gloom. The brutal violence won't work without it!

It's real, but he doesn't look like that now. That picture was taken before terminator 3, and he had back problems that caused him to be unable to work out for several months. He pumped back up bigger than he has been in 15 years for T3.

I hope Schwarzenegger doesn't end up playing Conan. I'd rather see some pro-wrestler do it. Heck, if they could get the Rock I'd be all for it. He's got just about the right build, and from what I've seen he's a decent actor when he gets a chance to be.

To crush your enemy...
...to drive his people before you...
...to hear the lamentation of his women.

Damn straight!!!

Fuck the kid's money. The world of Conan is meant to be brutal. I was so dissapointed when the second movie came out, nothing like "The Savage Sword of Conan" or any of the R.E Howard books.
Here's a suggestion for the studio. Don't hire Arnie and you can keep the budget down. Instead ,spend the money on a better script and blood. Lot's more blood.
