The main draw at the SNK booth is Metal Slug Anthology for the PSP and Nintendo's next-gen system, whose name is especially hard for my heterosexual hands to type... the Wii. Metal Slug is one of that last modern arcade titles without a dance pad attached, and it has a very excellent Contra feel to it. Of course, there's no need to praise a game company who puts this in their press release:
To gamers worldwide, the METAL SLUG franchise is known as one of the greatest action arcade series of all time.
I was going to say "go buy the fun game," but instead, I've decided to get everyone excited for the next installment in the series, SNK Game Sequel #287: Our Own Balls Taste So Good When We Suck Them.
Also being shown is King of Fighters 2006 for PS2 and another Metal Slug game for the GBA. And finally, the one I'm looking forward to most, is SNK vs Capcom Card Fighters for the DS. It's a card game with characters from SNK and Capcom games. About a third of the time someone asks me, the 1999 original on the Neo Geo Pocket Color is my favorite game of all time, and it breaks my heart that they always say, "what?"
You know the people you occasionally see on message boards who genuinely hate the rest of the world for not sharing their very, very specific hobbies? The first SNK vs Capcom Cardfighters really helped me understand them. That system failed hard, and I loved that game so much that I still feel an angsty, blanket disdain for the American consumer. If you've grown out of your counter-cultural phase and don't understand what I'm saying, it's the same feeling you got when those people elected a retarded person to be our President.
