Blizzard is cracking down on nerd crime! Earlier today, they banned 5400 World of Warcraft users and suspended 10,700 others for cheating or otherwise violating the game's magical rules.
The most insidious crime mentioned was players using third party software to farm gold. "Farming gold" is the term used to describe the busy work involved in raising virtual money. And apparently having an automated system do your chores destoys the economy for players without illegal robot slaves.
According to their website, many of the rule violators were caught with the help of other players acting as informants. Enjoy your victory while you can, straight-laces, because the coldest part of dork hell is reserved for World of Warcraft snitches.
