Sony Says PS3 Price Leak is Incorrect
Sony is a little concerned that news of Project Take Out A Second Mortgage to Buy PS3 spread around the Internets with Mahir-like intensity and All Your Base-like saturation, and someone took Georges Fornay, who was quoted in the widely-published articles, behind the woodshed for a little talk.Georges Fornay, says he was "misunderstood" when he appeared to indicate a price range for the PS3 during an interview with French radio station Europe 1 this week. But this seems like one of those infamous non-denial denials:According to the SCEE, Fornay was simply saying the PS3 would cost more than most current videogame consoles, which are priced well below €500, but would still be much cheaper than standalone Blu-ray Disc players. The PS3 will, of course, operate as such a device.I guess it depends on what your definition of "outrageously fucking expensive" is. This like saying that something which costs $49.95 is "under fifty dollars." Sure, it's technically true, but doesn't exactly correct the guy who said "Yeah, it's about fifty bucks."
This just looks like Sony is racing to get out a quick official announcement so they can attempt to contain the story before it turns into yet even more bad publicity for a company that has certainly earned its fair share in the last twelve months.
In a late-breaking development, Fornay reportedly farted in the general direction of the Internet rumors, before proclaiming its mother was a hamster, and its father smelled of elderberries. Journalists ran away before he could taunt them a second time.
Hat-tip: Innocent Child. Thanks!
