NEW VIDEO GAME DAY

The big game in stores this week is Kingdom Hearts 2 (PS2), an adorable mix of Disney and Final Fantasy. It comes with beautiful design, incredible production values, Chicken Little, and a discount if you trade your balls in with it. And while it's a good game to trick your girlfriend into playing video games, it's a very bad game for that girlfriend to catch you playing.

The XBOX 360 has four new releases this week, all of them slight improvements on existing games. Top Spin 2, Dynasty Warriors 5, Far Cry Instincts: Predator, and Rumble Roses XX. Whether it's worth $60 to play Rumble Roses again with shinier cleavage is up to you.

The PS2 got Beatmania, a record-scratching rhythm game that would have to come with a talking car to be even close to as rad as Guitar Hero. Also released was Kao the Kangaroo 2, some mascotty whatnot you can play if you've already beat all your other mascotty whatnot games recently. Dynasty Warriors 5: Empires adds a little strategy to the army-destroying button smashing, and Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers is worth at least a rental if you like modern war shooters and have the free time to play the 87 that are released each month.

So the long and the short of it is that if you're one of the people who just couldn't get into the idea of leading Disney characters in battle there isn't a damned thing going on in the world of videogames?

Far Cry Instincts: Predator is actually two games. It also includes the sequel to the original Far Cry Instincts that's coming out on XBox at some point in the future.

Don't forget Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion from last week on the 360. Not to mention Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence from a week before that. And Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter before that on the 360 (though ignore the horrible Xbox and PS2 version).

So far, these last few weeks have killed me financially. God damn money.
