Jack White's Naked Wife

Daze Reader has a round up of naked pix featuring Jack "The White Stripes" White's latest wife, Karen Elson. Oh, and if you care about the, ah, music, The New Yorker's Sasha Frere-Jones has a review of "Get Behind Me Satan."

But White is as perverse as he is talented, and that keeps his albums, like the newest, “Get Behind Me Satan,” from being as fun as they are smart. For a taste of the sort of conceptual roadblocks White is given to, look at how “Get Behind Me Satan” was created: most of the songs were written on piano, acoustic guitar, and marimba, even though the electric guitar is the instrument White truly understands; none of the songs were finished before the start of recording; and studio time was kept to a minimum (fourteen days for thirteen songs). The album’s press release notes that the single, “Blue Orchid,” was recorded only two weeks before it was released. These constraints are evidence that White thinks and reflects on his craft, and they certainly create a distinct White Stripes “brand,” but how much of this hokum helps the band make music or exploit White’s gifts? Is working fast necessarily a good thing? Is it as good for us as it is for him?

It's always seemed weird to me how the same model can look like completely different people in different photoshoots.

I'll get sick of them when they stop being good. Which hasn't happened yet.

They were good? People kept talking about how they were reviving rock or something, but their songs were even more simplistic than punk, which was already the simplistic version of rock. Oh, but they lacked the energy of punk.

And her drumming is mediocre. And the no bass thing was stupid, but I guess they finally realized that.

Other than that though, they're alright I guess. I'd pay 3 bucks to see them play in some kids garage I guess.

Indeed.
The new record is a tad odd but it's awesome.

There's this thing you might want to educate yourself about:
It's called The Blues

I dunno, I thought it was great to see someone get hit singles who didn't sound all polished and studio-made. I still like them, anyway.

Yeah, she's pretty hot. But do we have any naked Meg? love

I think that whatever the Stripes are doing, it's working damn well. They seem to me to be one of those bands that wouldn't fare too well if they overproduced their albums. In any event, why fuck with a method that obviously works for them?

Wait, are you saying the White Stripes are blues? Or even remotely connected to blues? Or is this just about my musical diatribe involving rock and punk?
