When dealing with Hunter S. Thompson, why scatter his ashes when you can blast them out of a cannon?

Organisers of a memorial for Hunter S Thompson plan to erect a 46-metre tower - courtesy of actor Johnny Depp - to shoot the gonzo journalist's ashes from a cannon onto his ranch.


Known for his enthusiastic use of firearms, being blasted in powder form out of a cannon seems somehow fitting.

Besides even without using firearms who wouldn't want to have their ashes blown out of a cannon after they die?!
