Monster-in-Law Not Welcome in Kentucky

Apparently, people do care about what happened 35 years ago. And many are still hoppin' mad at Jane Fonda for her actions during the Vietnam War.

Despite its being the top grossing film in the country, an owner of two Kentucky theatres has barred Fonda's latest film, Monster-In-Law, from showing on any of his screens.

Ike Boutwell, who trained pilots during the Vietnam War, displayed pictures of Fonda clapping with a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft crew in 1972 outside the Elizabethtown Movie Palace to show his disapproval. The marquee outside Showtime Cinemas in nearby Radcliff reads: "No Jane Fonda movie in this theater."

Incidentally, Boutwell has refused to present other Fonda works at his theaters, as well as the controversial Michael Moore documentary Fahrenheit 911.

Hey, freedom of speech. He doesn't have to show any movie he doesn't like for whatever reason and protest. Unlike most protestors, he's actually getting some message out. And he didn't have to bomb an abortion clinic to do it. If you don't like what he's saying, write him a letter or protest him in some other way.

I just don't understand how this is news though.

Most big movies are distributed to chain theaters, anyway. If he's an indy owner, he was probably not going to show it anyway. . .

In other words, this is like me "refusing" to drive any gold-plated cars.

It's Kentucky people. If that state were a human being, it would be the retarded kid who draws on the walls with his own poop.

I'm not trying to pick on Dan76 (his is just the most recent example) but is anyone else getting tired fo this increasingly popular refrain? Do people really treat SG as there source for hard news...no pun intended?

you can try to stop Tom Selleck, but you will never thwart Burt Reynolds. he is the Uber-Selleck.
