A Boy's Best Friend Is His Mother

When police got into the home of a Phillip Schuth, 52, of Campbell, Wisconsin, after a 15 hour standoff that began soon after he shot at a neighbor, they found a nasty surprise in the freezer.

Authorities discovered human remains in the freezer Saturday after Philip Schuth shot at a neighbor and held police at bay for 15 hours outside his home before surrendering. He was being held on charges of attempted homicide and concealing a corpse.

Schuth, 52, allegedly told authorities during the standoff that his mother's body was stored in his basement freezer. Investigators later chipped away at an ice block in the freezer until they reached a human leg.

The chest-type freezer was so heavy that a skid loader had to be used to get it out of the home Sunday.

Investigators are treating the case as a possible homicide and say the body could have been stored in the freezer two years or longer. An autopsy is planned.

"We don't even know if it's his mother yet," Campbell Police Chief Ron Latva said. "A leg is in ice. We have not made any identification yet."

One neighbor who did not want to be identified told the La Crosse Tribune for Sunday's editions that Schuth's mother suddenly disappeared about two years ago.

"They used to walk to Quillin's (supermarket), get their groceries and carry them back," the neighbor said. "Then all of a sudden you never saw her."

Neighbors also told the paper that Schuth said he had moved his mother to a nursing home.

In a shocking twist, he is described as a loner who kept to himself.

Delores Helin, who lives a few houses down from Schuth, said she would occasionally see him working in the yard. "I walk by his house a lot and say hello but he never says anything back," she said.

In the freezer.

Not as light shades or anything.

And please dear ghod not as a flayed skin that he dresses up in.

You know, often times I am upset that there is generally no picture to accompany SG news wire items. Now is not one of those times.

how exactly did she end up in a block of ice? what sort of freezer was he keeping her in? Of course the problem comes if they find out that the body is not they guy's mother.

You know, Washington state might produce more serial killers than most states, but Wisconsin has the market cornered on serial killers that are just plain fucked in the head. Ed Gein, Jeffrey Dahmer, and now this guy. Honestly, is there something in the goddamn water there, or what?!
