You love someone, you have a few drinks to get up the courage to tell them so, and then leap onto your new motorbike when they invite you over. A tragic romantic story comes true.

Shaun Brindley, 34, had declared his undying love for his close friend Susan Crossland in a late-night telephone call. And he promised he would be at her house in ten minutes.

In a cruel twist, the father-of-two was already dead when Ms Crossland sent him a text message saying: "Your time is up".

Mr Brindley, who had been drinking to pluck up the courage to tell Ms Crossland how he felt, crashed into a van illegally parked at the side of a 40mph road, while riding at 66mph, and died at the scene from massive injuries.
