Exploding RFID tags in new US $20 bills

Rob just sent an interesting article to the SBDC list about some guys who, kind of by accident, found out that there's RFID chips in the new $20 bills and that they explode when you microwave them.

So we chose to 'microwave' our cash, over $1000 in twenties in a stack, not spread out on a carasoul. Do you know what exploded on American money?? The right eye of Andrew Jackson on the new twenty, every bill was uniform in it's burning... Isnt that interesting?

It's not a waste of money. As long as at least 51% of the bill remains, and you can read the serial number.....you can exchange them for new bills.

I'm gonna try this! But there's still no proof it was an RFID that exploded until someone who knows what it would look like opens a bill up and finds one.

Doesn't microwaving cook stuff from the inside out, therefore they would burn in the centre of the notes in a stacked pile of them????? I'll believe it when i see it with my own eyes.

Man, now I really want to try this. If I only *had* a twenty dollar bill...let alone had an extra one to burn... whatever

although this might be true, it should be noted that the source is somewhat sketchy. i live in austin, texas, the home of alex jones, the man responsible for the prison planet website, and he and his affiliates are known here to be more on the extremist/quack side of alternative media. sometimes, their rants are based on truths and other times, they appear to be nothing more than comedic fodder. note the importance of the "right eye" of jackson, a mason. coincidence?

This is pretty interesting, and as for people finding them there is some work for you if that is what is starting the burning. How long are you putting the money in for, if you wanted to test this you could put several other things in there with the same consistancy to see if they started burning at the same time etc. Looks like the microwave and me are spending some time together tonight smile

The ones I've seen look like a small fleck of gold paint, but they come in all shapes and sizes. I've never seen one in money.
