Setting back the Scene, one Satanic Ritual at a time

Andrea Volpa, along with the rest of his heavy metal band named ‘Beasts of Satan’, may never play music again. A 30 year stint in maximum security prison does horrible things to one’s guitar-playing abilities. The sentence brings an abrupt halt to the band’s search for a new singer. Their original singer received a “fatal hammer blow to the head”, attempting to prevent the sacrificial murder of his girlfriend.

From MSNBC.com:
“We got justice,” said Lina Marino, the mother of Chiara Marino, whom band members stabbed to death under a full moon in 1998. She was 19.
They apparently believed that the petite brunette was the personification of the Virgin Mary.

There are 10 members of the cult, including Volpe, that are to be brought up on charges. However, Volpe and ‘the gravedigger’ are the only ones as of yet convicted. Pietro Guerrieri only received 16 years for his physical efforts.

From MSNBC.com:
The Satanic killings sparked fears in Italy of a spread of devil cults, and the Vatican last week started a course for Roman Catholic priests on Satanism and exorcism in response to what the Church says is a worrying interest in the occult

If nothing else, these misdirected metalheads left their stain on the papal sheets.

That's why my friends left what they thought was a satanist group when the hints of sacrifice arose. When they realized the group were not "satanists" but instead worshipped the Judaeo-Christian concept of "Satan" they split.

There's a NON-Judeo-Christian version of Satan?

Well, referring to Anton Szandor LaVey's Satanic Bible (I believe the term Satanism predates the 1969 book, but the folks I knew were seeking something based on this), the traditional Judaeo-Christian concepts of Satan are not the foundation. This 'review' explains further.
I tried to find the book's text online, but I only found a .pdf version that won't download.
Aside from a couple of people I knew years ago and skimming through LaVey's book I don't know enough to say what constitutes 'satanism.' Depends partly, I assume, on whether you are into LaVey's fairly recent book or are into darker ways centerd on the JC concept of Satan/Evil.
But right now I have to show Un Chien Andalou to a friend who's been previously deprived of the experience.
