it's just stupid that they didn't nominate an amazing movie as far as visual, acting and directing goes... "the motorcycle diaries". it only got a nomination for the music and for the adapted screenplay. aw,well,i hope it wins the latter at least, it's ana amazing movies, and the actors in it are simply amazing. overlooking it is a typical "political" move by the hollywoood intelligentsia.

It's nice to see that Jamie Foxx is nominated for best supporting actor in Collateral. He's come a long way from that Shanaynay In Living Color schtick.

Does anyone else find it weird that most of the nominated movies are in theatres right now? Do they delay the Oscar shoo-ins so they do better at the box office?

Also House of Flying Daggers isn't up for costumes? And Shark Tale got a nod? The Oscars are a sham.

Oh wow, two good films got nominated. For the awards no one cares about. I need the yearly Oscar awards because it keeps me remembering why I hate the film industry.

None the less, I haven't seen any of these movies. All I want to see is Million Dollar Baby and Sideways.

Well, there had to be something for The Incredibles to crush, and those were pretty much the only other animated features released in 2004.

Also, I apologize to all the other "movies", but Million Dollar Baby should rightfully win all the awards it's up for. That includes best actor even though Clint has been playing the same character for the last 45 years, because it's still the best character ever.

This is exactly why the Oscars are irrelevant. The nominations shouldn't be determined by whatever was in the category in a given year. If there's nothing good that year, skip the category. If there aren't 5 good actors worthy of a nomination, keep it at 3.

Nevermind. I'm caring too much. blush

It's a stupid catagory anyways. Best animated feature oscars should just be shipped whenever Pixar finishes a movie.

I have to agree wth UnnecessaryZ. I just saw Million Dollar Baby and was blown away. Eastwood deserves both the best actor and director.

I think Scorcese will get a pity award.

It's a televised union grope-fest. I don't understand the fascination, either.

To be fair to Michael Moore, if he wasn't going to get nominated in Best Documentary (so he could have a shot at Best Picture) and he didn't get nominated for Best Picture, what nominations does that leave for a documentary? Makeup? Original screenplay?
