The Crap De La Crap

The best awards show of them all announced their nominees today: ladies and gentlemen, it's Razzie time!

The leading nominee this year is the truly craptastic Halle Berry bomb Catwoman.

The Razzies, which mock the worst in film, gave "Catwoman" a leading seven nominations Monday, among them worst picture, worst actress for Berry and worst supporting players for Sharon Stone and Lambert Wilson. "Catwoman" also was nominated for worst screen couple for Berry with either Stone or co-star Benjamin Bratt.

"'Catwoman' is the cinematic equivalent of a clump in the cat-litter box," Razzies founder John Wilson said. "Kind of a sad little thing laying there stinking up the place."

The historical bomb "Alexander" was second with six Razzie nominations, including worst picture, worst actor (Colin Farrell), worst actress (Angelina Jolie) and worst director (Oliver Stone).

The other worst-picture contenders were the family action comedy "Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2," the holiday debacle "Surviving Christmas" and the cross-dressing comedy "White Chicks."

One movie you wouldn't expect to rack up nominations was Fahrenheit 9/11, in several acting categories;

Bush was nominated for worst actor, while Secretary of State-designate Condoleezza Rice got a nomination for worst supporting actress and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld for worst supporting actor.

Wilson said that while "Fahrenheit 9/11" was a piece of anti-Bush propaganda, the president and his associates earned their Razzie nominations on their own.

"It wasn't Mr. Moore's editing," Wilson said. "It's the raw footage of these people just making fools of themselves."

Just a few seconds of screen time in "Fahrenheit 9/11" brought a nomination as worst supporting actress for Britney Spears, who sits for a moment blank-faced and chewing gum in the film before saying she thinks people should support the president in all decisions he makes.

Also nominated: Ah-Nuld The Governator, for a cameo in "Around the World in 80 Days."

Dude,Catwoman sucked my ASS.

I love Halle, but my god, I wanted to cry halfway through the movie.
I admit, I'm hugely biased because I adored Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman in Batman Returns, but even so, the Catwoman movie was terrible.

And Sharon Stone needs a girdle.

I think it was winter 2003 when I read about other Hollywood stars saying they wouldn't want "to pull a halle"...

i.e:
winning an oscar and establishing herself as a legitimate star, then riding this bomb into the ground.

and the show came out summer 2004.

Catwoman was largest pile of fetid sh** put on celluloid in years & it was the first film on my flight to Australia last month. I contemplated opening the planes emergency exit just to releive the stench.

Someone should have put that cat in a bag full of bricks and thrown her into a lake, would have saved a whole bunch of money.

They DO let actual people watch them. They do market research, paying people $60 to $100 for their opinions before they let a movie out. Somewhere in LA, a roomful of about 100 unemployed "average people" sat thru Catwoman and then said "beautiful. Don't change a thing". The proles have spoken.

I avoided Catwoman like the plauge. They took the Catwoman methos and shit all over it. It's a pity because it could have been a good movie, had they stuck to the established character from the Batman books.

i agree some simple retooling could have made it ok instead of the chick flick dressed up like an action movie... such a shame
