Benigni: Now I Make Iraq Comedy!

Roberto Benigni, writer/director/star of 1999's La Vita รจ Bella (Life Is Beautiful), is set to work on La Tigre e la neve, a comedy about a poet who gets caught in the middle of the March 2003 invasion on Iraq.

On Italian radio (via IMDb.com):

War naturally is the background of the film and my character is directly involved in it after this poet ends up in Iraq by pure chance. What is extraordinary is his vision of the world. This is one person representing all the people in the world.

Wow. How completely non-presumptuous of Mr. Benigni.
