New Mexico Jumps on Gay Marriage Bandwagon

Having been totally shown up by San Francisco, New Mexico makes a grab for it's piece of the limelight.

here's nothing in the law that I can find that would prohibit issuing same-sex marriage licenses," said Sandoval County Clerk Victoria Dunlap. She said several more same-sex couples have sought to marry.

"I'm sure New Mexico will become the next test ground," she said. "We're fairly open-minded here despite the rural area we're living in."

santa fe is full of same-sex couples, so it doesn't surprise me. frankly, i think people are a little ridiculous in wanting to ban same-sex marriages. then again, they also didn't let women vote forever, forced blacks into slavery AND elected George W. Bush..oh wait.. he didn't get elected.

wait.. i just reread it.. RURAL sandoval county? i live in sandoval county..granted it's the biggest in the state, but it's home to a city of roughly 65-70,000 people.. and it's next to Albuquerque, which is home to almost a million.

Start the revolution baby! I was just watching the Rev. Jerry Falwell on Crossfire condemning the SF marriages, and I came to a conclusion...What that guy needs is a good deep-dicking!

Well, it looks like it's starting. Once this thing begins to spread there won't be any stopping it. What's the government going to do, start revoking marriage licenses? That's great PR, I can see it already.

Every place should just legalize it. I dont see why the hell they won't For a country that claims a lot of debts they could at least get lots more money from same sex marriage licences and taxes etc. It makes economical sense to me. This whole moral arugment they are trying to go on seems to me to go back to the whole seperation of church and state. I though the government had the interests of the state and country at heart. If thats true wouldn't that mean validating this and getting off the definition of a word. Languages change and evolve with the society they are in, sadly human brains don't.

I don't think we should be calling this a "bandwagon". It sounds like we're insulting them and I really think that, while I'm usually not a fan of trends, this is certainly one that needs to be encouraged.
