Fight Club...THE MUSICAL!

An article at Playbill claims that writer Chuck Palahniuk's popular book/film, Fight Club, may be turned into a stage musical.

At a recent reading as part of his promotional tour for his latest novel "Stranger Than Fiction," the author divulged to audiences that his gritty novel was possibly making the leap to the stage in song, according to event spokespersons. Palahniuk also mentioned "Fight Club" director David Fincher — whose film credits include "Alien 3," "The Game," "Seven" and "Panic Room" — would be involved in the developing musical.

Watch out Tony Awards!

sigh.
i hate fight club.
you know why?
it's fans. hardly any of them read the book. and the satire isn't as obvious in the movie. so you get these idiot 16 year old kids who are like "yeah, man, anarchy is what it's about. this is your life, man!"
sigh...
and screw that video game. i bet it'll be just as awesome as masters of tera kasi
-k
edited to add:
i should note i do enjoy the story. and the movie, for that matter. i love edward norton. but the fans of this are generally tools.
present company excluded.
probably smile

He mentioend that when I saw him read.

He sounded not that mocking of the idea. Fun!

Has anyone else seen the new cover for the Fight Club paperback? Sexy, glamorous torso shot of a sweaty, ripped guy with a bloody lip.

Flip the book over and you can see a shot of another man caressing his shoulder.

If you mean that it is ironic that a text with such themes be made into a musical, maybe you should reconsider. What is musical theatre but a style of presentation that allows expression of opinions and themes, and is viewed by a wide audience. See a parallel with books at all? So if it is ironic such themes be transferred to theatre, perhaps you are saying they should never have been printed either?

Do we know if the book or the movie would be the primary source for the musical? Because a lot of things left out in the movie, could perhaps be covered well in song. *Sings* 'I have a lump on my peeeeniisss.'

i'd like to see the musical segment when marla is chasing the narrator after they have fallen in the spilled fat.

"Can you imagine people in New Jersey paying $120 to drive to the city and watch a musical about anarchy?"
