VIP patrons at the Baja Beach Club in Barcelona, Spain can now gain entrance and purchase food and drinks without the use of cash or card. For €125 club goers can get a sub dermal implant known as VeriChip. The chip is implanted in the arm of the VIP and, when scanned, emits a signal containing their number and transmits that to the site containing each VIP's personal information.
Alex has spoken many times over the years about how the making the chip "fun" and how by giving it an elite status soon an entire of young teenagers will be arguing with their parents demanding that they let them be implanted so that they can be in the "in" crowd. The Baja Beach Club and Chase have proved that the trend has started.
Club director Conrad Chase says the VIP chip is being used "to follow the philosophy of originality that the Baja Beach Club has had from its origination." According to Chase, use of the VIP VeriChip has no drawbacks, and is used the same way as a debit card.
The chip is about the size of a grain of rice and is implanted via syringe by a certified medic.
