anyone who saw the post pannel discussion will remember it was a bunch of people of islamic faith roughly defending and self agrandising themselves in various ways of tact, ranging from love thy neighboor, to if you live in an islamic state and convert away from islam, the sentence is death.

correct me if i'm wrong, but the term 'christian extremist', or 'buddhist extremist' really isn't in parlance...

see buddhism teaches compassion and tolerance but now i officially hate the hipocritical religion of islam. im a bad buddhist but i defend my own.

as another practioner of Buddhism, I think you can have those feelings without making concepts of them, and not grasping them entirely...

That's rich. But then again, the Crusades and all sorts of dynastic wars in China (granted, both a long-ass time ago).

Actually Muslims have been beheading Buddhist monks in southeast asia for almost as long as the persecution of Christians. I brought a Christian friend of mine to the Buddhist temple i used to go to. The monk was pleased that he was interested in the religion, and he said i was welcome to bring anyone i wanted, as long as they were not muslim. The monk was from Thailand, where Muslims are no longer allowed in the temples because of the practice of such fundamentalists. Its very sad, but i have a deep respect for Islam. I don't hate them for who they are, rather I mourn the fact that many of them hate me for who I am.

I got two replies down and allready someone plays the classic 'crusades' clause... yes, there was also the Holocaust, but I don't hold that against pressent day Germans... You might also say abortion clinic bombers, which was sort of a fad that faded away...

People did a lot of things in the past over religion or state, you cant hold that against the surviving members of that culture... there can be a range of intolerance in any society, but most of it all doesn't involve decapitation...

Speaking of history, Constantine was also a major influence on the state of christianity in Rome, so much so that he's called Constantine the Great, he battled those who persecuted Christians.

Something that happened 900 years ago shouldn't factor into modern thoughts on modern religion, or it's persuit.

well the only reason thats 900 years ago is because christianity is pretty much done.
christiniaty didn't get milder at all really, they literally eradicated every othere religion in europe on the principle of join us or die.
then came the crusades untill they found out that they were just impossible to keep up.
and the last witch burnings are less than a century ago so really christianity isn't that much nicer they just achieved their goals allready of becoming the dominant religion in it's territory.

i'm pretty sure that if some people thought they could get away with it they'd start cleansing gays (and any other people that they dislike) in the name of christianity right now as well.

I wonder why Christian Fundamentalists aren't this extreme???

It's worth pointing out that Islamic extremism of this sort is a relatively recent phenomenon. All human societies have a tendency, whether overt or latent, to persecute the "other," but as Bernard Lewis and others have pointed out, in Islam's golden age, Muslim societies were much more tolerant of other belief systems than were their Christian counterparts during the same period. Lewis believes that Islam's loss of power and influence is more responsible for the current excesses of some of its practitioners than anything in Islamic teachings per se.

is there no end to their bloodacious path to torture the peaceful and wise and breed hatred thru-out the world. It seems for each killing, 100 more turn to hatred in response. so sad what the world is becoming.

the answer given would be the KKK. difference is the KKK don't take it abroad. they pretty much just kill folk at home.

i'm not saying christianity has gotten any better, but genereally they restrict themselves to psychological warfare these days.

I'm still confused as to why they're killing Buddhists. Christians I can understand, but Buddhists?
