NIfty.

Here's my picks:

Eclipse is a great Civilization-style board game with tons of epic space battles. It picked up Strategy Game of the Year at this year's BoardGameGeekCon. 2 to 6 players, half an hour playtime per player one you've played it a couple times.

And if you're good for getting six geeks in the same room together, take a serious look at Artemis. You and five friends take on the roles of commander, science officer, helm, weapons officer, engineer, and communications. Explore strange new worlds, fight off enemy ships, boldly go where no LAN party has gone before. 40$ gets you an install-on-as-many-computers-as-you-want license, or try the new iPhone port. Star Trek cosplay optional.

Need something you can send via eMail because it's too late to get another gift in the mail? Already broke your budget on other presents? Want to buy someone a prezzie and support some great charities at the same time? Check out Humble Indie Bundle 7, for the next few days only. The Humble Indie Bundle is a pay-what-you-want collection of award winning indie computer games. With the gift option, you can send your friends a code for their own copy in the mail, and yes, you can do it for a measly buck. What's more, you choose how that buck is split: You can give it all to the game developers, or to charities (Child's Play, which gives games to hospitals to make kids stays a little easier, or the EFF, speaking up for all our rights on the Internet). Bundle 7 also has the documentary movie "Indie Game" in it, which is one of my favorite recent documentaries.
