The Pussification of the Star Wars Jedi

Lucasfilm recently announced they are releasing the 1997 "special edition" versions of the first three Star Wars movies on DVD. I never really enjoyed any of the Star Wars movies, but could never put my finger on why I didn't like them. I think Les Jones analysis might be right on the money. Is there really anything to respect about the Jedi?

I think those two shitty "prequels" have sucked the life out of the Star Wars franchise, and Lord of the Rings seized the title of the pre-eminent sci-fi/fantasy film series.

Mitichlorians? What the fuck?

Under UK census rulings (i.e. what I put on the form should be recorded), my religion should be officially classed as 'Jedi'. smile

Surely that's worthy of respect?

I'm buying it.

And the Jedi dedicate their lives to defending the innocent and battling the Sith. They leave their families at a young age to begin training, and aren't able to have any romantic involvments. I think that's pretty honorable. I would go on, but I fear I might break the dork 'o meter.

I didn't like either of the prequels.
And on a side note:
ehhh the word "pussification" never ceases to annoy the living hell out of me.

1. I'd rather buy the original versions.

2. The Jedi originally was supposed to be a futuritic representation of the past Samurai. Samurai didn't need long range weapons or bitch all the time or do any of the crap the new moives did, cause it wasn't knoble and it was jsut completely lame altogether.

3. The new ones don't count. Screw the new ones. It's all about the old ones, and Lord of the Rings, I jsu tconsider them some crap that is completely seprate from the original more Brilliant vision.. i.e. like The Crow 2, or T3 or all that other pointless shit that comes out nowadays with half as much power as the originals.

4. It should be called the pussification of George Lucas.. wink

The problem with George Lucas is that no one within the Lucas Empire challenges him. On Ep. IV and V he had people telling him what would and wouldn't work.

So who here has been to The Ranch? tongue

uhm...they were called bows and arrows and yes they used them. also, samurai were part of a militaristic government and were not really police officers. lastly, your writing needs a hella lotta work.

I have always said that the problem with the prequels was that no one could tell Lucas he was being an idiot. Excellent little exchange there.

Ok, I appologise, my mind was wandering and I was thinking more of Ronin which are differant, and I retract, I forgot bout arrows. All I was trying to get across was Lucas was inspired a lot by Kurosawa, which kicks ass. The new ones I don't like as much so I was being biased in the respect I jsut feel that they kinda lost their way, but as GStrife said, to each their own.
