Worst Teacher Contest May Be a Tie

Teachers really need to get paid more, if only to weed out deadbeats like the following. In my search for something either awesome or atrocious to write about, I came upon two equally appalling examples of poor judgement and/or shitty character... BOTH involving the oldest profession: teaching (okay, technically the world's oldest profession is prostitution but, someone had to teach that prostitute about the birds, the bees, pay rates and shit, right? That person was a teacher.)

Up first, this jerk.

A 10-year-old Hilton Head Island boy has been suspended from school for having something most students carry in their supply boxes: a pencil sharpener.

A pencil sharpener... packed with explosives? Tainted with anthrax? Rigged to a detonator?

The problem was his sharpener had broken, but he decided to use it anyway.

Damn him for being resourceful and, possibly, poor.

A teacher at Hilton Head Island International Baccalaureate Elementary School noticed the boy had what appeared to be a small razor blade during class on Tuesday, according to a Beaufort County sheriff's report...

Oh well, if it wasn't necessarily from a sharpener and was some sort of weapon or straight razor maybe I spoke too soon in attacking the...

It was obvious that the blade was the metal insert commonly found in a child's small, plastic pencil sharpener, the deputy noted.

What. The. Fuck. Then what's the problem? Why are we even hearing about this? This shouldn't have even made it to the principal's office. His sharpener broke, he kept using it. So what?

The boy –– a fourth-grader described as a well-behaved and good student –– cried during the meeting with his mom, the deputy and the school's assistant principal.

Well that should teach him a lesson about being well-behaved and sensitive... Ugh, well at least it's all over now, the kid can go back to class and we can all...

He had no criminal intent in having the blade at school, the sheriff's report stated, but was suspended for at least two days and could face further disciplinary action.

Fantastic. Nice work, everybody. You really did it.

District spokesman Randy Wall said school administrators are stuck in the precarious position between the district's zero tolerance policy against having weapons at school and common sense.

"We're always going to do something to make sure the child understands the seriousness of having something that could potentially harm another student, but we're going to be reasonable," he said.

No, not at all a precarious position, dick-bag, Use that common sense you mentioned. "Potentially harm another student"? Like scissors and sharpened pencils and... Ugh.

And possibly topping that display, is this one:

A Chicago teacher is under fire for singling out the only Muslim student in her class while talking about the Middle East. The teacher has now been reassigned to another school. However, the young boy's family is demanding answers.

Well that doesn't sound SO bad. Maybe the teacher was discussing other countries and picked on the boy, since he happened to come from that country, to ask him about what it's like there or what they eat, etc.

"He came home and before he even took his backpack off, he had tears in his eyes already," said Mohmmad Fahad Choudhary, victim's brother. Mohmmad talks about the day his little brother came home from school saying his teacher had singled him out in front of his class as an example of a terrorist.

"She used the example of if Saleh were to go on to an airplane, put his backpack down and put two wires together and the plane were to blow up - and she didn't make a point," said Christina Abraham, Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Yep...

"Everybody started teasing him and calling him a terrorist after the comments were made by the teacher," Mohmmad said.

I don't know if this teacher is a racist but he sure as hell has zero awareness of the current climate in this country. Really? This seemed like a good idea to you? Making a point like that?

Even if the teacher just... slipped, couldn't he have tried to cover? Like, quickly singled out an asian or black kid and made the same point with them? Although, actually he probably would have just accused them of being a ninja and a gangbanger...

Yeah, I'm really torn here... Possible racism and insensitivity versus gross incompetence, irrational behavior and lack of common sense...

I'm gonna say the racist teacher is the worst. Followed by the teacher who reported the razor, the principal who alerted the higher-ups, the spokesman and then the kids who mocked Saleh. That sounds right to me...

Look out! He's got a razor blade, knife, boxcutter, something that could actually cause harm......wait....what the hell is that?

Reinstate the kid, suspend the teacher.

I stabbed a kid in school with a pen, but that was before terrorists existed, apparently.

True Fact: 9/11 was caused by terrorists with broken pencil sharpeners. Actually, 4 year olds with broken pencil sharpeners. Never forget.

Sorry, this is still the worst teacher ever.

Melissa Barton said she is considering legal action after her son's kindergarten teacher led his classmates to vote him out of class.

After each classmate was allowed to say what they didn't like about Barton's 5-year-old son, Alex, his Morningside Elementary teacher Wendy Portillo said they were going to take a vote, Barton said.

By a 14 to 2 margin, the students voted Alex -- who is in the process of being diagnosed with autism -- out of the class.

Fuck! Schools are like prisons now. Anything can be used as a weapon, so let's only allow paper, but no pens or pencils. Wait, you can use paper to inflict some nasty paper cuts. How about we just put kids in padded rooms, medicate them and only teach them the bible?

And for those of you that think this only happens in America, enjoy!
