What's Zo Wearing? January 27, 2008

Secret Photography Agent and resident Fashion Icon Zoetica often has the staff at SGHQ asking, "What's Zo Wearing?" Her unique and eccentric style is a rallying call to those who suffer from mainstream malaise. Each week, she tells us how she's combined ordinary items to create her extraordinary look. Born out of the murky depths of her black hole closet,"What's Zo Wearing" is SG's answer to middle-of-the-road makeover shows.

This is actually what most of my wardrobe looked like for a couple of years - tons of thin layered basics. Things got so dire that I actually had to make a "no more buying basics" rule, that I observe even now.

My friends and relatives seem to have suddenly noticed this shift [or they think I look particularly uncomfortable] because this year I've received soft, thin layer items from both Lumi and my mom. To be honest, it's really kind of nice.

Top and dress from Lumi by Social Awearness
Leggings from mom
Leg warmers from someplace downtown
Cherry Mary Jane platforms by Demonia
Socks from Japan

Is there any chance of some columns about fashion beyond just one person's taste?

There was one for a while. I can't remember which SG did it, but she took pictures of people on the street that were well-dressed. I don't remember it being terribly popular.

I think it was Reagan's but I might be wrong.

It was Reagan.

I was thinking a more traditional fashion column, just about clothes and how to wear them if you aren't Zoetica.

Don't forget, you need the victoria's secret sweatpants tucked into the uggs for full effect. throw on a burberry scarf if it's a bit chilly.

That's an idea my partner miss Courtney Riot and I have been discussing for some time, actually. I'm thinking lots of orange and flannel. Orange flannel? And Uggs. With Crocs over them.

OK. Let's see what Zo ISN'T wearing already. Jesus H. fucking Christ . . . .

Most original comment, ever.

I do think a "What Zo Wouldn't Be Caught Dead Wearing" would make for an entertaining very special episode...

A fine idea, and one I've been mulling over for some time.
So far I've only been able to featured a couple of boys.

Time's issue, but there might be something along these lines in the works, especially considering I've just acquired a fancy new camera!

Though not this week, I'm too busy worrying about this.

Zoetica, tell me you weren't too busy watching the Super Fowl today to do a new What's Zo Wearing. That's disappointing. I'm not disappointed in you. I'm just disappointed in a world where people wear shiny spandex, and mouse costumes, but no one's wearing Zo.

She does style updates on her website, but they aren't as frequent. I miss this feature, too! But I bet it was a bunch of work to put together so often.

One can only respect and admire a woman who stays true to her blacks and greys.

I had a Photography Instructor that only wore blacks and greys. Mostly black. She was amazing in many ways.
