What's Zo Wearing? December 16, 2007

Secret Photoshop Agent and resident Fashion Icon Zoetica often has the staff at SGHQ asking, "What's Zo Wearing?" Her unique and eccentric style is a rallying call to those who suffer from mainstream malaise. Each week, she tells us how she's combined ordinary items to create her extraordinary look. Born out of the murky depths of her black hole closet,"What's Zo Wearing" is SG's answer to middle-of-the-road makeover shows.

We must never forget where we come from, peeps. Never! When I went to Russia last summer and saw this shawl, I knew it was destiny.

Now, a little language lesson for all. What you see me wearing below is a shawl. A shawl is called "shahl" in Russian. It is not called a "babushka". A babushka, in fact, is a little old lady or grandmother. While these are often spotted wearing shawls on their heads they are not shawls themselves. Next time you see a shawl, you will KNOW.

And of course, even shadow-ninjas need familiars, particularly portable ones.

You are correct, of course, but out my way that usage of babushka is common. On the other hand, those blue-haired ladies who continue the tradition here aren't often as pretty, nor as likely to wear such gorgeous shawls.

Do svidaniya!

Yeah! We totally got that on Melrose.

The pants are actually just super thin gathered leggings.
