So, you received an annoying spam email from a boring men's magazine and you rant about it. So far, so good. But... how exactly is that news? Maybe there is a hidden message in your article, but I just can't seem to decipher it. Do you think I need a bigger Ph.D.?

It wasn't really a spam email. Writer for Details (basically) wrote an article about how he doesn't like breast implants, and how he thinks women who get them are playing into trying to please men, which he finds sad and sexist.

Details thought that Bitch's readers might find this interesting and emailed her. Bitch had a cow, because Details failed to realize that this in itself is rather sexist. Why should it matter what a bench of men at Details think?

Overall problem? When a lot of men think of women getting implants they think of women who want to play into the idealic blonde bimbo sterotype. Non-sexist men don't like this, because they do actually think that image is degrading to women. However, as men, it's hard to see the overal picture, how everything isn't always black and white, blahblahblahblahblahblah.

Basically a lot of people are caring a lot about shit that doesn't really matter, especially when everyone is all on the same side, really. Which is really the only thing interesting about this article. Maybe that makes it an interesting article.

I think 'feminists' are headcases... If you're for equality- then it shouldn't be called fem-(anything).

I am curious as to why you think Details is stupid for believing that ideas like "women shouldn't have to feel like they need breast implants in order to be attractive to men" is feminist, and instead is "stupid" for believing that something like that would be interesting to a feminist blogger.

And don't get me wrong; I think Details is generally pretty stupid.

In other words, places this thread could have gone:

Why do people believe implants and feminism are incompatible? Do you believe this?
Why does a men's magazine feel the need to address female body image, and is the way they're doing it appropriate?
Is it basically inappropriate for men in general to discuss women's issues with body image?
Are breast implants "just another body mod?" Why do you believe what you do?
Is this community, with its wide acceptance of body mods like hair colors, piercings, tattoos, and subdermal implants, more accepting of breast implants as "just another body mod" than society in general?
What's the general societal view of women with obvious implants (stereotypes, etc), and why?

You know, riff on the kinds of things that spark discussion and debate, maybe toss a few references in there for people who want heavier reading on your chosen topic than Details, that sort of thing.

But that's just me, I guess.
