I feel a little torn on this. As a bisexual, I'm a little embarassed when gay people do things like this. Jarman, should not have forced those men to be involved with this function when participation had been voluntary before. I am one million percent in favor of gay pride functions, but I don't think that they should be an opportunity to break the law. Sexual harassment is a crime. Exposing ones self in public is a crime. Gay pride functions are not an excuse to commit crimes.

As a woman, I understand how disturbing sexual harassment can be. It can be a humiliating and haunting experience and I cannot bring myself to blame the men for wanting repercussions for those who were responsible. However, the city is not who was responsible. Jarman is not responsible either.

I have been hit on by gay men before *ask and I'll tell, but too long a story to go into here* and as a rule I have always looked at it like "Hell yeah I'm sexy" I know how good it feels to be objectafied some times. Now if it were to be a constant thing, it would get annoying, so I thank God I don't look like Vin Deisel, or whatever the hunk of the day is. but they should take it with a grain of salt. And joke back, if a guy flashes you say "It looks like a penis only smaller" or something seriously. Have fun with life or you'll never get out alive.

The issue here is not that the firefighters were subjected to homosexual verbal abuse, but that their employer forced them to do it.

Fuck man, at least try to see things from their point of view, they're the ones risking their lives trying to save us and keep our cities from burning down. They're not just a "bunch of fucking wimps".

I don't know for sure that the firefighters in question were sexually harassed. I don't know for sure that they were traumatized. But I DO know that being ordered to participate in an event that specifically celebrates something sexual is not cool. Would it be OK for them to be orderd to participate in a NAMBLA march? What about a "National Doggystyle Day" parade?

Even if it has nothing to do with sex, ordering them to participate in and support something against their will is wrong.

Do I think they deserve a couple million dollars? No. Not really. But I think they were wronged. But I don't think it's that big a deal.

That's fucked up!!.......I can totally understand the Fire Fighters position on this. However a law suit is absurd!!!!.........We live in times of political correctness unfortunately!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....So my question is where the fuck was the chief????....If she's a Lesbian SHE should have represented the department, in lieu of the volunteer crew who bailed, Instead of ordering a crew (who obviously felt different) on duty. It certainly would've been better to have the the chief representing the Department instead of a few Fire fighters who may or may not agree with the parades theme. I for one love the pride parades, Vancouver has an awesome one every year !! I love It although I'm straight!! ( It's even crazy that I have to say that but)) It's great!!.(but that's me) forcing others to participate who may feel different is Fucked!!!!
