On July 25 a Los Angeles-based California Patient's Group (CPG) -- a medical marijuana dispensary -- was raided by the DEA. Without warning, DEA agents stormed into the building using full force, shattering the CPG's front door. Everyone inside, including patients, was held inside for hours at gunpoint. Just down the street, as soon as the staff at SGHQ heard what was going on, we decided to join in and protest this raid. The police force had sent over 25 units to guard our dispensary. The cops should have been out there protecting the innocent , not abusing them. Although we protested peacefully, at least two people were hit with police clubs and arrested. The state of California passed Proposition 215 in 1996, giving its citizens the right to use medical marijuana, yet once again it has been denied us. I met a man at the protest that had bone marrow cancer who now has to suffer until he can get more medication. Below are some of the photographs Andrew Yoon snapped of the chaos.
