Which Worries You More: Uppity Coloreds, or Uppity Dames?

In this photo, Bob Novak, the guy who outs women CIA agents in order to punish their husbands, is talking to his homie, Confederate Memorial Association President John Edward Hurley. Notice that Bob and John and those other dudes in the background are all old white guys. AKA, the only people that count.

No, seriously! Here's Bob talking to a bunch of other white guys about the negroes and the women folk over at "Meet the Press," an Important Media Outlet that Matters and that coincidentally is dominanted almost entirely by . . . white guys.

"Republicans are very pessimistic about 2008. When you talk to them off the record, they don't see how they can win this thing. And then they think for a minute, and only the Democratic Party, with everything in their favor, would say that, 'OK, this is the year either to have a woman or an African-American to break precedent, to do things the country has never done before.' And it gives the Republicans hope."

The answer to the titular question, though, is that Bob's more bugged by the uppity women than by the uppity Negroes--he and Hugh Hewitt agree that these people who "reject conventional forms of political action"--you know, like public platforms they're not invited to appear on--are scary.

the venom that comes out of the mouths of some of these women, particularly, I’m not trying to be sexist, but they’re so vicious toward [Bush]. And I don’t think that really contributes.

Ladies, it's *not nice* to be angry at men who, oh, think you should be broodmares for the republic. Stop arguing and *be productive*.

Bob also says that if Hillary wins, really that's just giving Bill a third term. Because, you know--just like in the Plame outing--women have no identities of their own. That's the kind of traditional value conservatives like Novak can really get behind.

Bob Novak's Republican Party: We Hope, Because We Believe Americans are Racist Woman-Hating Neanderthals.

There's a slogan for ya.

Bitch_PhD can't wait for the argument about how divisive this post is.

i'd express an opinion, but as i'm 2/3 of the way to being 'old, white and male', i'll just keep my trap shut for now, since i'm slowly learning that that makes me the root of all evil.

You're getting way too acclimatized to being controversial, and -- while I realise that half the reason reason you write here sometimes, and took this job in the first place, is as intentional troll-bait for male users of porn communities -- this post would only hook our most conservative of trolls. Given the audience you reach here, the only thing the slightest bit controversial in this news post is how F*CKING ANNOYING it is to try and parse a paragraph that has an odd number of dashed-out clauses in it! And because for this particular post you won't get any rise out of the misogynistic patriarchal pundits of heteronormative cultural hegemony that you expect to be behind every god damn corner, I will take the opportunity to abate some of your evident desire to be flamed by calling you out on said shitty grammatical choice.

If you want this paragraph to be at all readable and not idiotic, consider a colon after Negroes instead of a double-hyphen. Because as you've presented it, this news post is DAMNED hard to read when you reach the end of it and have to recursively collapse the odd number of dashes into some sort of coherent sentence. (Speaking of which, the other way to solve this problem would be to end the sentence without ending the paragraph. Imagine that!)

misguided still doesn't get why the editors can post without having to be edited. What are we, monkeys?

Oh goody. There's always some guy who has to lecture the chicks on how they should do their jobs better.

Or, you know, you could actually do the job better and therefore negate any necessity for anyone, male or female, to lecture "the chicks" on how to do their job better. In this case I think perhaps it's more a job on how to write properly, not just "better." He didn't even address the one line paragraphs used to feign an abundance of content that is, in fact, absent. How about the very internet slang method of emphasizing words by *surrounding with asterisks*?

Someone explain to me how someone manages to acquire a PhD but can't retain basic writing composition skills?

By learning that context matters, and that therefore writing *on the internet* means there's *nothing wrong with using internet conventions*.

I suppose not actually being a journalist means we can't uphold you to actual standards of writing, doesn't it? Though, I hardly see any internet versions of magazines or newspapers using internet conventions in their articles. Perhaps SG is once again paving the road, then?

Who are you talking about? Cozza? Because if you are, then I'm afraid you're as stupid and annoying as the original, "Waaaaaaaaaah, waaaaaaaaaaaaah, I must make everything about being a girl!" post.

Clearly someone is a groupie. Arwen you can't blame groupies. They find someone they believe to be a shining example of humanity, or music, or what have you, and they grasp onto it immediately. They don't know any better.

It's a shame that someone probably won't get elected because of something like race or gender. I'd like to be surprised one day.
