SuicideGirls Enter Captivity Launch Party

Your wait to enter Captivity ends tonight at the launch party hosted by Dave Navarro and SuicideGirls.

As newswire readers are surely aware -- Captivity, directed by Roland Joffe, is an underground, spine chilling thriller that follows the story of a young woman who is abducted, held against her will and tortured for days. The live broadcast will include: celebrity interviews on the red carpet, and live interviews with some of your favorite Suicide Girls.

#1 I'm not being judgmental. Whatever your into, fine. I just totally don't understand how movies like this are entertaining. Again, I'm not getting down on anybody, but I personally have never been able to fathom the entire slasher/torture/horror movie genre. I mean, if you're not some sick twisted Jeffery Dahmer like person who really gets off on perpetrating such actions (and I know most people who enjoy this type of film and NOT like this, I'm married to one), what is the appeal of watching people suffer? Even my wife of almost 15 years has been unable to explain it to me. Seriously, I'm not trying to put anyone down, I just personally don't understand it. I guess the best way to describe my situation is to make the analogy that some people are great at math and some can't add 2 + 2. Could someone please explain the psychological need to see fictionalized accounts of people getting tortured?

No hard feelings. Hope the opening goes well.

is an underground, spine chilling thriller

Unless "underground" refers to the geographic location of this movie (like it's about Morlocks or some shit), I'm pretty sure "underground" (referring to something like "independent") is not what this move is at all? I mean, there are ads for this thing all over the web, TV, buses....

Some of us are fascinated by it.
You know how people are fascinated with fluffy bunnies and unicorns and happy fuzzy things?
Some of us are like that with murders and torture and carnage in general.
Ask anyone in the Rigor Mortis group.

I know I am.
I have an Ed Gein waterglobe, for Christ's sake.

Pardon me if I sound like I have a serial killer alter ego here, but I am completely intrigued by dead bodies and the thousands of different ways to kill people, the ways they can be tortured, and the psychological state of people who do this.
If I could be a criminal psychologist by day and a mortician by night, I'd be very happy.
And tired.

And I'm completely repulsed by the entire concept. Again...nothing personal. My wife is exactly the same way. We acquired an old Cadillac and she wants to sell it and buy a hearse. Hell, her domain is mygothicangel.com. I still love her even though she's creepy! smile
