Secret Photoshop Agent and resident Fashion Icon Zoetica often has the staff at SGHQ asking, "What's Zo Wearing?" Her unique and eccentric style is a rallying call to those who suffer from mainstream malaise. Each week, she tells us how she's combined ordinary items to create her extraordinary look. Undaunted by unusual combinations, "What's Zo Wearing" is SG's answer to middle-of-the-road makeover shows.

Hot. Hot and hotter. Fortunately this gives me an excuse to broaden my umbrella/parasol collection. And I do. I've long wondered why more people don't take such precautions against the blazing summer sun's deathrays! With that said, this installment will likely complete my especially frilly period for a while, I think. Also of note is the spectacular wall you see behind me in these photos -- we stumbled upon it by pure chance. The result of layers upon layers upon years of peeling paint. To think such a work of art might be painted over one day!
Now let me tell you about the brown, velvety shrug you see in these pictures. Last October, the lad and I decided it would be a good idea to take his motorcycle to San Francisco. This is generally not a good idea, unless you own a touring bike, my friends. Especially not a good idea if you have a Kawasaki Ninja. Extra super mega especially not a good idea if it's anything but warm out. Bear these things in mind as you imagine us, shaking from near hypothermia as we exit the freeway, about two hours after the sun has set, in search of somewhere, anywhere that's open and purveys warm clothing.
These are the conditions that force a reasonable human being such as myself to utter the following words: " YESS! A WAL-MART!" That's where I saw this item. From an ocean of bad prints and khaki its chocolate-colored surface called to me. And now it's here. Thank you, Wal-Mart. We shall never meet, or speak of this again.

A special treat this day, little nublins!
Last weekend I adventured to Long Beach's Anime Expo in pursuit of capturing interesting costumes to share with you, good and bad. See the fruits of these labors HERE -- you're sure to be entertained.
Para-brella -- a small shop on Hollywood Blvd. Can't miss it -- it's filled with gaudy merchandise, brimming with silver and gold bags and accessories. The stylish umbrella didn't belong there -- I saved it.
Brown tank top -- a 3 for $5 tshirt store neat my place. I'm sure you can get these anywhere.
Cream slip top -- no idea
Layered skirt -- the big mall in Chinatown. Has a matching jacket but it's much too hot for that. rr.
Velvet shrug -- Wal-Mart. Really.
Shoes and socks -- electriqueboutique.com
