These photos were sort of a test for a new flash Andrew's acquired. They remind me of scene photos in a way, and the gumballs suddenly seem appropriate. Sadly, the sweater got mostly blown out, but things happen. Lists! We 're all strangely drawn to them. They exude an air of order, clarity. Here is one now.

-- I'd like to dedicate the first paragraph to my roommate, who, like many generations before her, squealed in terror at my combining of navy and black in one outfit. I am here to tell you once and for all, humans -- it's ok. Go ahead -- it looks cute, dammit. It's a bit like layering different grays. In fact if a dark gray were added to this very outfit, it would likely work, too.

-- These princess waisted so-called "tunics" are everywhere this summer. we are expected to wear them with short or pants, but I suggest trying a short skirt underneath, instead. A pair of cute short bloomers would do nicely, as well -- on the hunt for some myself at the moment.

July 1st means several things.

-- In thirty days is the anniversary of me being launched -- catapulted if you will -- screeching out of my dear mother onto this delightful little planet. Twenty seven years ago. That in itself, however, means very little.

-- It also means that I have the distinct (yet slighty pusillanimous) pleasure of welcoming Warren Ellis to the SG newswire. He is sure to fill our souls with joy and hope for a brighter tomorrow -- I look forward to sharing Sundays with him.
