London's 2012 Swastika

Okay, so other than the fact that it looks like a mutated swastika, why is everyone so up at arms about London's recently revealed logo for the 2012 Olympic Games? It's kind of embarrassing that an online petition gathered 48,615 signatures to protest the logo and demand that it be replaced, when the "England is the best country in the World" petition from 2005 only garnered a measly 54 signatures.

But seriously, who gives a shit? It kind of looks like something Picasso might have drawn up and called "guerra," since that is, after all, what's erupted around it. So what if it's abstract and looks like a five-year old designed it? So what if it resembles graffiti, or cost $800,000 to design, or an animated version of it on the website caused "more than 10 seizures among the estimated 23,000 people vulnerable to a photo-sensitive form of epilepsy."

Wait, what? It cost $800,000 to design, and caused a grip of seizures?

Fuck that logo. It's totally a swastika, dude.

My only reason for disapproval is that after such a substantial amount of was spent, the logo looks like something i could have created myself in Paint. Other than that, I am indifferent and dont give a shit about sports enough to care.

I love the fact that Britain can balls something up so spectacularly it's not enough we design a logo that's ugly, but it gives people seizures too.

I think the thing that offends me most, is the fact that "London" has a lower case "l".

It's bad enough that the logo looks shit as a whole, but bad grammar too?

It amazes me that the person that created it is so illiterate that they did not think to put a capital L as the first letter of London.
Isn't this a common principal of the ENGLISH language? Seeing as it's the capital of England they could have a little bit more pride.

Hopefully living in Manchester I won't see it sprawled all over the place too much!

It's nice to know that our taxes go on something so crap. I'm moving to Spain. It's well cheaper over there...

That's besides the point. This is a website. Not the name of a city. Plus it's American, not English. London is the capital of the country of where the language originates.

I feel your pain, but it is "cool" to not use capitals these days. Makes words "friendlier" or something. I don't know.
