Gang of Rapists Terrorize the Netherlands With HIV

As if conservative America didn’t already view the Netherlands as a lair of sin and depravity, along comes a story that can only be described as an abomination of inhumanity... there aren't enough adjectives to describe how fucking sick this is. According to ABC News Online, a gang of Dutch men have been accused of luring gay men to orgies where the victims were then drugged, raped, and injected with their own HIV-infected blood.

After four victims came forward to Dutch police, the gang -- consisting of three HIV-positive gay men -- was arrested along with a fourth scumfuck who supplied them with large amounts of GHB and Ecstasy to aid in the rapes. Mr. Ronald Zwarter, the police chief of Groningen, where the rapes allegedly occurred, said:

(Their) stated motive was that it excited them and also that, the more HIV-infected people there are, the better their chances of unprotected sex. They considered unprotected relations to be 'pure’.

Since the arrests were made, eight more victims have come forward. Numerous public figures in the Netherlands have spoken out against the crimes:

Health Minister Ab Klink on Thursday called the case "horrible", as the press splashed the news across its front pages.
...
"That homos [sic] organize orgies is nothing new, but this is something else. This is unimaginable," said Frank van Dalen, the president of a gay rights group called COC.
...
Said Henk Krol, the editor of a homosexual magazine titled Gaykrant: "These people were drugged, it's therefore rape, pure and simple. It's shameful, disgusting and terrifying. Those who did this are crazy."

Normally this is the point in a story where I’d crack a joke, or post a zany YouTube clip, but there's nothing here to laugh at. I hate condoms as much as the next guy, but they've become a necessary part of life; as much as I typically advocate sexual freedom in all its splendor, there’s just no excuse here, none whatsoever. This casual disregard for human life is just so inhumanly narcissistic and cruel. That this has happened at all is simply terrifying, like some real life twist taken from Hostel or Saw, only far, far worse.

I agree this is murder, because they might die now, and they raped their victims.

This is disgusting.

Don't actually see this happening anywhere...

I concur, totally. First degree murder, to boot.

the law in the netherlands may be different, but i believe it's only murder if someone dies. this would probably be something like attempted murder, i think...

either way, in principle i agree...they deserve the deepest darkest hell we can manufacture

*grabs law books*

Dutch law classifies this as TWO separate crimes: First of all Rape, punishable by up to 12 years in prison. And secondly Premeditated Aggravated Assault also punishable by up to 12 years in prison. This is PER CASE. So far there have been 8 reported (though the police fear there may be many, many morefrown ).

If the prosecution play their cards right they can send these guys away pretty much forever. Since there is also an obvious mental disorder here, as well as danger of repeated behavior they can also be sentenced to become "Wards of the State" (TBS in dutch). This means the basically get committed to a mental health facility for 2 years after they have served their jail time, but this can then be extended by four years (and extended again EVERY four years there after) without a trial. Strictly based on them being found by their wardens to be mentally fit to return to society. Which i hope will NEVER happen.

Since both of them are terminally ill i think the only thing they have to look forward too is a slow painful death behind bars.

If there was a worse fate I would wish it upon them. But i think this is the closest to justice we can get in this world.

The fact the human can do something like this to another human makes me sick. Why can't everyone just live at peace with one anoither and not start shit? I understand it's a lot to ask, there's a lot of fucked up people in the world, but what makes a person do this?

People like this should be treated as murderers, because that's what the they are. I believe they should get the same kind of sentance that any other rapist, murderer or whatever should get. Convict them and with no hesitation shoot them. Don't waste money feeding, clothing, and keeping them alive in jail for however long. Just so they can get out and do it again. Just kill them on the spot and save the tax dollars. People like this do not deserve life.

Hopefully things will change soon enough.

They're going to end up in prison, where they can continue doing just what they've been doing. They're probably looking forward to it.

In light of recent articles, should there be a 'sick shit' section added to the newswire?

What I find intriguing, aside from this story being just horrendous beyond belief, is that, while you admit that the story's content is too disturbing to be of any entertainment value (with which I agree), and your report is "soley" informative, that you do use this incredibly sad and horrific tragedy to promote your personal politcal agenda:

Somehow, I fail to recognize the relation of this terribly, terribly disturbing news of a gang of gay, dutch, rapists, who inject their HIV infected blood into drugged victims, with "conservative America." Please explain. You're sensitive to the fact that it's too wretched to be used to poke fun, but not too bad to be used for taking a shot at some barely defined, neo-political ideology? Riiiight.

My suggestion, in order to avoid this very simple dilemna in future "News" reports, is what we refer to in the scholarly world as "Logic 101" and "Introduction to Critical Thinking" - they are classes being taught at a university near you. Take advantage of it.

I was making no statement whatsoever, and in this sense I wasn't referring to political conservatives. I was referring to our nation in general as being sexually conservative compared to many others, including the Netherlands. In this case, I was referencing the typical American view that a lot of Americans have of places like Amsterdam (which many like to think of as a hotbed of drugs and prostitution) as evidenced in generic films like "Eurotrip" and that one Cheech and Chong movie (which one? I forget.)

I make no claim to be an unbiased writer. Read the SG Newswire charter: generally speaking this is biased news, and I'm not apologizing for that. However, in this situation, and in this article, there is no agenda other than to report a story to our readers, and I believe that's what I did. If you think that contextualizing this story somehow takes away from it, well, you're entitled to your opinion. But the word conservative has more than one meaning, and how you choose to read my statement is up to you.

Because that's what all the cool kids do. Didn't you know that every news story in existence shows how Conservative America sucks? Sheesh....

Interesting picture at the top of this article, by the way.
